I have not been a Surly fan lately. They have released beers that seem sub par for a while now. This one I got does buck the trend. I am liking it. This is also beer 2200 for me here.

Wow, I am really liking how this beer is pouring. It is a very dark amber color. There's some clarity, but not a lot. The head is a frothy looking off white color The head retention is great and I am totally digging the lacing on the glass.
The aroma doesn't seem like like what an IPA should smell like. I get a total hit of malt here. Lots of caramel aromas. There's a hit of pine in the aroma, but it isn't strong. Aroma is pleasing, but not what I was expecting.
Taste - The flavor seems like a combination of hops and malts. The malts seem to be on the front. I get a lot of caramel notes up front. The back is where the hops come into play. The hops seem to be pine in nature. It isn't crazy toward the pine, but it's there.
I am liking the feeling of this beer. It has a full body. The ABV isn't really hidden here, but it also isn't on display, if that makes sense.
This is actually a good beer. I have been down on Surly, but they can make a good beer still.

Destihl Double Red Imperial Red IPA (Columbus, Warrior, Cascade, Simcoe, Chinook). One of the more underrated styles of beer imho. This one brings biscuit, toast, honey, and caramel from the malt to go with pine resin, grapefruit flesh/peel, and cedar from the hops. A nice example of the style.

Drekker Fashion Show At Lunch (6.4% no canning date): A NEIPA from North Dakota with HBC586 and Motueka for flavors of passionfruit, pink lemonade, and strawberry.

New NEIPA from Drekker here with some great hops in HBC586 and Motueka. The 586 gives it a passionfruit and pink lemonade and strawberry flavor. The Motueka gives it more citrus and a bit of a tropical note. Flavorful, yet bright and clean. Drinks smooth. Fantastic NEIPA and hop combo from Drekker.

No intro necessary for this one. @Victory_Sabre1973 Surly hasn't been the same since Todd left, I know he spent some time at 3Floyds, and I think he's in Chicago now. What used to be Todd the Axe Man now just Axe Man and it's not the same.

Seidla Helles from Wander Brewing in Bellingham, Wash while waiting for some more rain.

Grainy aroma with a fruity note. Thickish body. Mellow and malty with a scratchy yeasty finish. Some kind of herbal hops with a stemmy aftertaste. Overall, quite quaffable but not one to linger over. It does leave a bitter aftertaste.

Don't I know it. I've had so much Surly that has come in recently that has been poor to revolting. Once in a while they make good beer. I was lower than average on the last one, but it was good.

Happy Wednesday ba. Finally able to get into it here:
A decade of hop decadence, dipa- citra, mosaic, simcoe, galaxy- Hop Butcher. Nicely concentrated and hop forward. Rather lightly fruited but that can be a good thing. Some grapefruit and tangerine. Smooth upfront and a decent bitter finish. The best I’ve had from them so far. Underscored ba rating at an 82,
