What beer are you drinking now? #455

I didnt have the highest expectations for this, but it is incredible. I (will be hung for this but) was better than all of the BCB beers i had this year

I recognize that my ridiculous score deviation is largely a result of my rating this as a "farmhouse table beer" rather than as a saison, but goddamn, dudes and dudettes. This beer is excellent and I challenge other brewers to do such a good job wringing out this much nuance and depth from a beer that clocks in under 3% ABV. Seriously. And I love whatever brett strain(s) they've cultured at Jester King—an excellent balance of must, funk, and tartness. Good on ya, Jester King, y'all are doing some fantastic things down there in Texas hill country.

 

Was lucky enough to score some Boulevard Rye on Rye today. I hope it was a good as the last batch, bought 4 bottles. This Night Tripper is drinking great while watching Big Head Todd at Red Rocks, saw them there in 07, great show!

Tonight's review rundown:

Quite tasty. Caramel/toast/brown sugar/brown bread with raisin/plum/apple fruitiness and cinnamon/nutmeg/clove spices. Good robustness and very smooth drinking.


This was damn good! Nice tangerine/pineapple/lemon zest hops with tart cranberry and juniper with moderate spruce/pine and balanced honey/bread malts. I'm a fan.


Damn good English porter! Nice caramel/toast/toffee/molasses/brown bread/cocoa/light roast malt flavors with raisin/fig English yeast esters with great balance. Very robust with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Spot on.


Pretty good DIPA. Tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon/orange zest/rind with balanced caramel/toffee/toast malts. Not all that impressive but it was enjoyable.


Awesome! Huge roasted coffee bean flavors with balanced dark chocolate/cocoa/roast/char/oatmeal flavors I expect out of the normal BORIS. Delicious stuff as expected.
