What beer are you drinking now? #4581

I bought a six-pack of Franziskaner Weissbier a few weeks back, and promptly forgot them in the fridge. Now it's down to a five-pack.

Great color, clear and golden; swirling mass of carbonation bubbles; nice fluffy head, white and lasting. Excellent nose; fine combination of light malt grains with a hint of corn; soothing, subtle, mildly spicy hop backdrop. Beautiful light lager flavor; warm cereal grains with a nifty and mild herbal hop bitterness. Light bodied; smooth; gentle warmth caresses the palate; lightly creamy; moderate overall dryness at the finish.

The can notes state the use of two heirloom corn varieties from Oaxaca leaves a the beer with a slight pink hue. My eyes don't see that. The beer itself is very pleasant to drink. It has a simple complexity (if you will) with a refined depth and balance that keeps this from being just another bland American adjunct corn lager. A perfect beer when one is looking for a smooth, tasty, easy-drinking beer.

...heh heh...that price point sounds about right back then...as I mentioned, I'm mostly a bourbon man but do enjoy a good peated Scottish whisky, a lot a Japanese whisky, but I do rate Midleton's as one of my all time whiskey / whisky of all times...must be why I have so many empty boxes myself ...
