Onyx Amburana stout from Atrium. Excellent!

 

Back at the hotel drinking a Belgian bock. Barbār Bok from Brasserie Lefèbvre - brewed with honey.

 

Trumer Pils from Salzburg. Interesting to compare this to the Berkeley version. To me, this has WAY more going on. Tons of aroma on the nose. Salt, almost a touch of skunk, biscuits. The California version from the sister brewery seems less flavorful.

Pours a clear yet very dark brown color, appears opaque in the glass; thick, dense and creamy head, khaki colored and long-lasting; thick, sticky rings and flecks of foam drape the inside of the glass. Rich nose of sweet milk chocolate, roasted grains, and a touch of whiskey. Rich and luxurious taste; bold milk chocolate flavor combining with cocoa nbotes, roasted grain bitterness; very balanced whiskey presence; a sly touch of peppery spiciness. Heavy, viscous mouthfeel; sticky, velvety touch; subtle bourbon heat beneath the rich residual sugars.

This incredible bourbon barrel aged imperial stout exudes a fine cocoa / chocolate base, combined with a nicely balanced bourbon barrel aging character. Very good stuff.
