Greetings Advocates! Very much enjoying a Bierstadt Helles after an early exit from the salt mines. Traffic was wonderfully light today. The commute wouldn't be bad at all if it were like this every day! Cheers!

    Russian River Brewing Co. -- R-N-D - IPA #68
    India pale ale
    ABV: 6.50%; pouring temperature: 58.2 °F; bottling info: 050725
Source: local purchase (Lots A Liquor)
Auxiliary vice: still harboring remains of my first whisky pour of the day (perhaps my only one)

    4.1/5 rDev +0.2%
    look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Pale yellow pour, more golden in the glass; clear; nice carbonation; thick and sudsy head, white and loosely soapy; sticky fingers and clumps of foam inside the glass. Fine aroma; a mix of pine resin, floral tones, and faint tropical fruits; mango and cantaloupe. Mellow malt base bringing a floral hop taste to the fore; relatively bold hop bitterness; grassy herbal tones. Medium-light mouthfeel; light with a feathery softness; crisp and dry.

This is an interesting and, ultimately, tasty India pale ale offering. It seems a bit rougher around the edges (e.g., the mouthfeel) than most Russian River IPAs, yet the flavors are pure west coast style bliss.

Done with work until next Wednesday! Just took a short nap and am now enjoying some Stone IPA. I finally found some reasonably fresh - 04/08/2025.

Slacker! I remember the thrill of actually leaving ahead of the crew and beating most of the PHX traffic. That Helles is well deserved sir! Hopefully you are into your long weekend?
Me, onto the last of the Xul Brewing IPA from the Great Smoky Mountains NP trip in early May.
    Cheers!

...can't go wrong with Andrew Hill on vinyl...to the best of my knowledge (which isn't saying much), I think most of the cuts on this two-fer offering haven't been released on a proper album, only Blue Note 'Connoisseur' CD releases...

It's really good. CB is probably my favorite brewery in DFW for IPAs.
    Cool can, Magnolia May agrees.

...man, if I could play saxophone, I'd want to play with the drive and passion of Pharoah Sanders, especially like on this cut...one of my favorite jazz musicians and glad I saw him live in Washington DC back in the day...love this entire album (my copied buried somewhere deep in the myriad piles of CDs I have around the property)...anyway (and obviously), gravitating towards a Pharoah Sanders kind of afternoon...

Yeah, and I can't find any real good version of the songs on the YouTube thing either...only poor transfers from the actual vinyl ah (so naturally our versions actually sound really good compared to that ha). There are many examples that I have, but most recently this collection and The Great Concert of Cecil Taylor are reasons I collect these, both are out of print and you can't get them any other real way. Of course there are many other out of print records, which is why physical media of all kinds is important to me. I also, just like collecting general stuff, so what am I to do ha.
