What beer are you drinking now? #4673

It's happening. Fall beer arrival. Time for a trip to Max.

 

I went by Round Trip on my way home from work yesterday (a slight detour) and picked two sixers of those up. Really got my eye out for Weihenstephaner Festbier. Good Word is always late with theirs - actually October last year. But it's worth the wait.

Cowabunga.An IPA brewed by Nighthawk. Even though the brewery is located in Virginia (Arlington) I had never heard of it.

Not a bad IPA but not one I would be looking to buy again anytime soon.

Finished staining my deck today - first coat. High traffic areas will get a second coat. Am I excited? No not really. Shoot me a Pernicious.

 

RAR Out Of Order Shooting Womp Rats Fruited Sour, 5% ABV. Pours reddish orange with a one-finger off-white head that left puree residue. Aroma is ice cream (vanilla and lactose), banana, and watermelon. Taste follows, quite sweet, slightly tart. Creamy mouthfeel, overall excellent.

The bottle is quite big. Not bad, but too much of it.

From a crazy big bottle. Best by February 26'.

There's a nice hiss and smoke upon opening the bottle. This is a very clear looking beer and golden in color. There's a very healthy stream of carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. There's a 2 finger white head that is a bit fluffy looking. Decent head retention and a bit of lacing on the glass.
The nose is full of a grain/cereal malt. Slight biscuit notes also hit my nose.
The flavor is light cereal grain flavor. There's some biscuit in the flavor, but it is mostly grainy. There's some floral. There's some hint of bitterness. There's a slight skunk to the beer.
Light bodied overall. There's a bit of bubbliness.
Well, this isn't bad, but I've had better. I don't know if a beer in a bottle this big is something I'd normally go for.

 

I too was hoping we would see new Anchor beers. I think I have 1 Porter left.

Lol! Today was the first of classes at my wife's school (she's a counselor). We did Taco Tuesday at the restaurant down the street - $3 Tacos. They had Tecate for $2.50 a bottle but I said "no thank you" to those.

 

Yes, it is true. This IPA always makes it into the lineup. Master Shredder brewed by Veil.

 

This fine Porter from Cypress & Grove is tempering my disappointment at finding no Night Swim in Florida. Speaking of the trip, we spent a couple of fun hours at the Sweetwater State Park.
