It was a damn long drive there to the Great Falls/Cascade area from central Minnesota. My rental had a tough time getting there with all the cases of beer loaded in the trunk, but so worth it. I hope to make it back next year.

72 Remember Olympics & my Dad came back from a remote tour in Thailand ( F-4 Base ). I am very sure that was my Mom's most stressful year for many reasons. We were living in Southern Maryland. She tried to but never got her driver's license. Luckily, we had family living near by & they helped. Also, so much family drama that I bet she wished we stayed in Podunk Altus, Oklahoma

 

Vietnam images are etched into my eyes. B4 the gvmt put a clamp on media coverage. I remember my dad grabbing me off the floor as I was 3 ft from a big ol' tv screen and saying Nope. You can't watch this shit. Helicopters, shot up boys, WAR. Always war.

One of my first memories was from January 1977 when we were in North Dakota at my Aunt and Uncle's place. Us very young kids were sent to a babysitter. The reason is us so young kids were too young to be at our cousin's funeral. I didn't know it at the time, but I pieced it together over the years.
