Voodoo Ranger Juicy Haze on a feels like 94 degree afternoon.

 

1) Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest (6.0%): A Festbier from California with flavors of floral and piney hops, earthy German malts. Hoppy, malty and smooth.
versus
2) Weihenstephaner Festbier (5.8%): A German Festbier with flavors of pale malt, smooth honey, cereal, pale Munich malts. Smooth. (Correctly matched the two blind)

First Festbier Battle of the season for me. First is Sierra Nevada in a collab with Störtebeker.This year is pretty standard. Not as much of the soapy orange from Sierra Nevada that I sometimes get which is nice.
Next is Weihenstephaner. A German festbier. Smooth malts, and authentic German flavors. One of the best and hard to beat.
Winner: Weihenstephaner Festbier

 

König Pils on a Hump Day. Dry and hoppy on the balance. Cheers!

I'm vacationing at my parents house, the house I grew up in. Whenever I come home to visit my parents neighbors, that have been there just as long, always bring me beer. God love them, sometimes they get really good stuff...other times its NEIPA. To be fair, they know I like IPA (and not the murky stuff), and the labels for these just say Double India Pale Ale. So, that is not on them. Considering I have never had them either, and didn't know they were these murk bombs either. well WHY THE HELL can't breweries label things correctly....oh well.

What am I talking about...some Hop Butcher, A Toast To Ten.

Decided to finally get a local West Virginia beer despite living on the Ohio border and getting their beers all the time. This is a damn good Fall offering from Big Timber, the perfect balance of sweet and bitter that I'm always looking for in an Oktoberfest. I will be getting these all season.

 

Not the best Toppling Goliath, but definitely drinkable.
