I'm finally settling down after dropping my princess off at a party. I was going to drink my Enjoy By, but not sure I'd finish it with this late start and I'm kinda tired so a real good plan B is in effect.
DEBC Cherry Chocolate Double Brown Stout.
The polar vortex isn't going to hold me down!
After a couple more Zoes moving on to Prairie BOMB!
Kalamazoo Stout. Lots of coffee up in here. Cheers to the fathers waiting for Princess to be home safe on this Friday night.
Had a dad and daughters dance with my 9 yr old tonight. Lots of fun, but probably the first time I have danced sober in 20 years. Forgot I had this in the car, so I thought I would get it a try tonight.
Your Sculpin is old so it's no wonder why that one didn't win
I hate to say everything I've drank tonight...
Such a great beer.
Ron Jeffries is the Man!
Ignored this beer for a long time because of the packaging. What a fool I was!! Love this beer, especially for 8.99!
How is that? I contemplate picking one up all the time.
Since I was driving the post Middle School Valentines Day Dance carpool for my daughter and posse, I had to forego any drinking until now, so I am 6 or 8 hours late to the party.
Kicking off with my first Sixpoint Hi-Res. Good stuff.
It's an amazing beer and one of the classic JP brews, go for it.
Even better with a few months on it
Review refresh day and such:
Holy feck, why the hell isn't this in my fridge more often(haven't had in a couple years). Thanks to Lagunitas clear bottle dating, I bought this today. 12/21 date. Huge bright pineapple/tangerine/grapefruit/orange/lemon zest/citrus rind and floral/grass/pine earthiness. Super crisp and balanced with light-moderate wheat/light honey malts. Super crisp and just kicks ass all day.
Incredible! Big dark chocolate/cocoa/roast/coffee/toast/caramel and balanced toffee/bourbon/vanilla/oak/light coconut barrel flavors. Nice mouthfeel and big depth/complexity. Their best effort.
Awesome Scotch ale. Big raisin, plum, pear, apple, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, molasses, toffee, oak, light clove, light vanilla, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Awesome complexity and balance of malt/yeast ester flavors. Very impressive.
Damn good Baltic Porter! This was so enjoyable. Chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, biscuit, nuttiness, brown sugar, brown bread, light roast, raisin, plum, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Lots of biscuit/nutty malt vibe going on; very unique for the style, but it was really damn impressive.
I was glad to spot this in a random store again recently. Nice Flemish brown ale. Lightly tart cherry, apple, pear, toast, toffee, caramel, oak, red wine vinegar, clove, pepper, and musty funk. Crisp and well balanced flavors.
They haven't done me wrong yet, so why not right? I want your JP Biere de Mars!! Definitely jealous of that one.
CCB brings another well crafted Dry Hopped IPA. Citra was better in my honest opinion, but this is still awesome.
One of my home-brewed cream ales, followed by a Lagunitas Sucks.
Yeah same here, no duds yet.
But yeah that Biere de Mars is delicious. This is one one that I kept passing on for a while and finally decided to try. Don't know why I waited so long. That's why it's always a good idea to jump on Jolly Pumpkin brews, you never know when you'll see them again.
My buddy bought some about to drink my first one, Kinda excited. Six point does a good job. I love Bengali Tiger!
Brewdog Tokyo! I WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blind Pig and Murica
No bitch - mines is better than yours COMBINED!!
18% RIS right?
Tried it a few years ago and blew my mind.
It's amaze-balls. SOOOOOO happy that I found it!
Unfortunately, I've never seen the Biere de Mars around me. Many of the others seem to sit for whatever reason though. La Roja is like a weekly treat for me. Love that stuff. I'm going to have to grab that Oro de Calabaza next time I'm at the store. Cheers!
About to open a 2011 bottle of The Abyss
Pretty excited! Rates 100/100, what should I expect?!
I was kinda disappointed tbh, found it to be pretty meh
Lots of licorice and dark fruit I guess is what I got from it
Dark, rich goodness.. Subtle coffee flavor.. Dark, roasty sweetness.. a good amount of Bourbon burn.. Nice amount of booze. Heaven, basically.
And you should expect jealousy from us.
Seriously though.. are you ever going to use a different glass? I can send you one if you'll use it.
Eh, go for it. Only you can decide if you like it. It's not terrible and it's not mind-blowing. Kind of like most beers.
Yeah, La Roja is great since its easy to find and one of the more, in my opinion, true flanders red like beers since its not sweetened, pasteurized or filtered like some examples from Belgium. A few other great JP brews are the Bam series, Bam Biere and Bam noir. Low abv brews but high in flavor and character.
Wife or daugher?
Nitecapping with HopSlam in my new favorite glass, my HopSlam snifter.
but I started with this…
First time…. Dang tasty!
