Having a Grimm Oatmeal Porter

 

My first Portuguese beer, went on a trip to Alcampo on the metro, about 20 minutes away, and picked up some stuff. This isn’t great, but it’s perfectly fine and would be very pleasant on a warm summer day. A bit thin mouthfeel, but the flavor is like a grainy white wine almost.

Unfortunately no music today, my lightning cable to headphone jack adapter broke and because all the iPhones here in Europe are USB-C, nobody was selling any at the stores I went to. Looks like I’m gonna have to order something online, ah well.
I sure wish Apple had kept the headphone jack on their phones! I’m not a Bluetooth guy, sound quality isn’t as good imo.

 

1/05 here @beerloserLI, also it tastes much better warm than cold. I left a wounded soldier out overnight and finished em off the next morning night and day on the taste.

 

A couple of work beers. I have decided come hell or high water, I am taking some kind of vacation in March.

Struck out on Rasputin, but did find a Port City Porter

 

1) Little Thistle Mist & Shadow (4.5%): A Czech Dark Lager from Minnesota with flavors of dark graine, earthy, and roast. Clean and dry.
versus
2) Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel (5.0%): A German Dunkel with flavors of brown bread, earthy Munich malt, bread and yeast. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Dark Lager Battle. I don't have a huge selection of dark lagers this year but the few I have are good. First Little Thistle Mist & Shadow. Dark, roasted, and bittersweet. Dark and almost more porter-level roasty than a Czech dark. Very good.
Next is Ayinger. More dark grains, tobacco, earthy notes. This is obviously the winner as usual.
Winner: Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel

 

Longing for a Hopslam about now.....21 days in to this dry AF month....sigh

Ah well, this one will have to do for now!
