What beer are you drinking now? #4889

1) Phase Three Gravlax (7.8% no canning date): A NEIPA from Chicago with Strata, Simcoe, and Talus for flavors of lemon peel, mango, pineapple, and hints of coconut.
versus
2) Phase Three Dimensional Drift (8.0% canned 1/21/26): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic, Amarillo, Krush for flavors of orange, guava, and blueberry bubblegum. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Phase Three IPA Battle. First is Gravlax. First try at this. Interesting hop combo with Strata, Simcoe, and Talus. Definite grapefruit, lemon peel, mango notes from Strata. Hints of coconut from Talus, and then a smooth tropical note from Simcoe to smooth it out. Excellent.
Next is Dimensional Drift. More tropical hop flavors here. Some blueberry and bubblegum and more earthy, tea, floral notes. Excellent as well. Both are more similar than I expected. Hard to call a winner here, but I think I prefer Dimensional Drift.
Winner: Phase Three Dimensional Drift.

NB Juicy Haze IPA with some chicken tenders....

 

Outer Range Misty Mornings (7.7% canned 1/11/26): A NEIPA from Colorado with Mosaic, Mouteka, Nelson for flavors of orange, lychee, blueberry, tropical peach.

Outer Range Misty Mornings. First try at this brewery. Promising hop combo with Mosaic, Motueka, Nelson. No reviews yet on BeerAdvocate other than @Monkeyknife who gave it a 4.08. First impression, absolutely beautiful pour, not a lot of NEIPAs pour like this. Intensely tropical aromas and flavors. Tropical orange and peach upfront. Also some lychee, blueberry, and melon. Love the hop combo and beer name here and very impressive IPA.

 

@Monkeyknife Looks so good. I have that in the fridge, waiting to try. Also trying to decide if I should buy more.

 

That's a great brew to hang a dart board with. Love the drinking vessel too. What's your game? Cricket?

Probably my closer for the day...

Finishing up Roddy Doyle's Oh, Play That Thing. Its the sequel to A Star Called Henry...where the main character Henry, was working as a spy for the Irish IRA in the early 20's, but they were actually going to kill him instead. So he runs off to America, and becomes best friends with Louise Armstrong in 20's jazz culture...its not nearly as good as the first book, a bit cartoonish, but Doyle knows his jazz (he plays in his own jazz band by the way). It also gives me an excuse to pull out some Armstrong records as I finish the book ha.

Armstrong Plays W.C Handy is brilliant, and Guinness Extra Stout in the glass...oh and some Bushmills 10 Year Old, but you can ignore that

 

Having this just to get another can of it in my fridge gone.

 

It's funny to hear the neighborhood across the woods talking in British when I done delivered to them straight UPS and they was all asian.
