A room temp Guinness Extra Stout now, and drinking a lot better imo. I am used to drinking certain beers at room temp like strong barrel aged beers, occasionally I’ll try something lighter unrefrigerated to compare and sometimes I enjoy it more less cold. Right now would be one of those times. This tastes pretty roasted and charred, a bit ashy and as I noticed in the last beer warming up a slight hint of diacetyl but it works in its favor and doesn’t really detract or make it taste worse. Nice big notes of roasted malts, espresso black coffee, baking chocolate, ashy char, some caramel, hints of butterscotch, brown bread, toffee, brown sugar, subtle vanilla, and hints of dark dried fruit with earthy hops. Tasting even better warmer for me and pairing well with the red wine cask Irish whiskey. Cheers everyone!

and in good Boston fashion, I present you with more Dropkick Murphys!

...I'm with you as far as drinking beers warmer than most people do...too much cold impedes the wonderful flavors, smells, and even mouthfeel that may otherwise be hidden in a beer that is served 'ice cold' or in the dreaded 'frosted mug'...

I was noticing an odd kinda off bubblegum-like dark fruity flavor in the beer cold from the fridge that seemed to fade as it warmed up and I couldn't even notice it when I drank the bottle straight from my room instead of another bottle from the fridge. Some beers just work better for me warmer, and knowing that in the UK beers are typically served warmer than over here as well it might make sense. You certainly wouldn't want a Coors or Bud beer warm though...:stuck_out_tongue:

Kind of like Cheetos puffs in texture and shape, but tastes more like real white cheddar instead of red 40 and heartburn lol
Pretty similar to Pirates Booty actually

Indeed, it is! The only downside is they didn't have Smithwicks on draught. Cheers!

...well, I wouldn't want Coors (period) or Budweiser warmer than say 55 ℉, but I seem to find most AALs seem to be more complex and nuanced as opposed to being served ice cold...I love water with ice, but beer -- that stuff needs some breathing room temps...

Irish pub fare on St. Patrick’s Day. Today featuring Smithwick’s Irish Red Ale, 4.5% ABV. Since 1710, out of Kilkenney, Ireland!

Here’s another interesting bit - the malt vinegar you soak your fish and chips in starts out as a unhopped Ale before being invaded by vinegar producing bacteria. Yum!
