Hey, you can call that a "zealous stout". New style of beer. Age it for a year and then try it. I bet it will taste like liquid gold.

    Beer #5
    the other Kapuzinger
I'm all out of Charcoal so I pan fried some Petite Sirloin, and added some of the Zinger. Covered them and reduced it down a bit.
turned out very good, but I will use a touch less Chicago Steak seasoning next time.

Well shit! I was lucky enough to see them in El Paso, TX before Mike died. I'm a huge metal fan and play metal myself. Oddly enough, one of my favorite bands happens to be named Stone...probably why I'm a huge fan of all of the beers by Stone!

    Happy Friday to all!

Bit of an off-day in terms of summer weather in the Seattle area - but so ready for the weekend. Expecting a visiting family member tomorrow who's in the process of moving from Chile to Austria. She'll be with us for a month and is so excited to spend time with her nephew.

While we wait for her arrival...

Enjoying this fantastic 3-Way IPA while I type this - canned on 7-24!

    hah, i like it!

Going to split it in half and leave half as-is, and do the bb treatment + nilla beans and cacao nibs in the other. Keg each in 3 gallon kegs and serve occasionally, and make some variants and bottle them from the base beer for long term aging. I have a 18.5 wheatwine in the keg from last october still that just gets more and more ridiculous.

Woohooo my liquor store got these in. Same flavors just turned up. I can't believe how many good beers everyone is drinking that I now get to sample for the first time, life is good. Ok now after a few more sips while photo bucketing I really like this.

Did a west coast to east coast IPA tour...a Stone collaboration "Unapologetic IPA", followed with a Triple C "3C" IPA. All is well in the neighborhood...ya'll be safe out there!

Revisiting some reviews as usual for the Fridays:

Very good amber. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, nuttiness with moderate light citrus zest/herbal/grassy hops. Good malty robustness and fairly balanced herbal bitterness. Nicely enjoyable.

Great stuff! Taste of big bright grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine hops with some moderate caramel/toasty maltiness. Nice pine/grassy bitterness on the finish. Very smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel with some light creaminess. Very hop forward.

Fantastic! Taste of sour cherry, green apple, cranberry, raisin, plum, red wine vinegar, caramel, brown bread, hay, straw, grass, leather, toasted oak, musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Nice amount of acidity on the finish, with a very smooth and crisp mouthfeel. Well balanced malt/oak/acidic flavors. Plenty of complexity. I'll make sure to grab some '14 and hide it for a while like I did this one.

Down to one more Jack/Kens and Fritz/Kens now(after this bottle of Jack/Kens). Figure I should round out the reviews for them(originally done over 2 years ago). Still extremely well carbonated and doing fantastic at 4 years old now. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, raisin, plum, fig, chocolate, cocoa, light roast with a light bit of citrus/pine hop notes. Hops are nearly gone now, but the bitterness is extremely balanced. Full malt show pretty much, but there is absolutely zero cloying anything. A nice and fairly crisp finish rounds it out. Amazing.

    Cheers
