Eh. I did something right that interrupted my drinking. Need to catch up today.
Started off the evening (and the new year) with a Duvel - classic and one of my favorites. Thinking I'm going to have to crack open the bottle of bourbon my son bought me for Christmas next, but might end the night with a 2012 BCBS.
Cheers and Happy New Year!
White Oak Jai Alai. Cheers!
I managed to drink a ton of ale and champange but balanced it out with soo much grub that even though this is technically my second beer of the day(WnB to bring in 2013 in the am) I was enthusiastic about cracking this beer as soon as I picked up up earlier today.

This concludes my tour of Belgium for tonight.
Now I'm tapping into a 2/18/2011 Yeti! Hell yeah!
BA Speedway was outstanding, batch 2 Chocolate Rain wasn't nearly as good as Batch 1(at least in my opinion), the Crooked Stave was really out there, but I liked it. Tart of Darkness was excellent. Cherry Rye was a big "meh", Black Note from the growler was very tasty. Black Hole Sun was, honestly, the most surprising of the day. It really, really blew me away with how good it was. Olde Rabbit's Foot was very good.
I wish I had a fresh palette for King of the Forest. It was very interesting, and I would love to try it without having anything before. It really reminded me of a sour apple Jolly Rancher.
White Chocolate was flat out gross.
drinking local? no thanks.
Instead I'll have:
Heh. I drank a WC last night. Freakin' loved it.
I'll have to look into that Black Hole Sun.
That's why I love craft beer. What you love, I don't like at all. It's all so very personal and subjective.
I had never heard of Black Hole Sun, or even Black Market Brewing. I will definitely seek out more of their beers now.
Started off the afternoon with old reliable, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
Moved onto to celebrating the New Year with some Celebration and the wife's chili. Yes indeed!!
Moved onto this one. I like this very much. A very citrusy hop forward Pale Ale.
Best Belgian I've ever had by far and away.
Well, my Badgers have made their way back into the game, it's Barry time! Go Badgers and ON WISCONSIN!!!
I've got pics of all of them, just not a pic of all the bottles together(they were still drinking more when I left, probably another 20 bottles to get through).
I'll see about uploading them in a few minutes
I can see people hating WC. It was a sweet boozy mess. For some reason, sweet boozy messes appeal to me.
Know what sucks about this beer?
That I just finished my bottle, I want MORE, but know I won' be able to finish another full bottle of it today, and thus can't rationalize opening another bottle of this gem tonight. Boo.
The first day of the new year.
Reserve Series Aged in French Oak Chardonnay Barrels
Last ZD in the house while eating some French Bread Pizza from Whole Foods. 3.99 for two? Best deal in that overpriced place!
Well, today I went in to Philadelphia seeing that Hawthornes had Pliny the Younger in a growler fill, so I knew I had to try it just once so I was lucky to get there and have a glass AND buy a growler!
second half of rose bowl may start to get a bit fuzzy.... go WI
I really liked it too, but I didn't think it was a boozy mess. Boozy, yes.........mess, not so much, thought it was well constructed.
Enjoying this while I cook up some black eyed peas with pork and greens, with the Mrs.
That says Elder. Not younger.
Yes that is how much in awe I was!
