I have a bottle of 2012 aging. How's it drinking now?

 

I might be able to run this in stead of motor oil

Just counted the empty bottles near the sink. There are seven. I remember when I would drink twice that many beers and not feel as well as I do now. Congrats to @utopiajane, for being voted Beer Advocate of the year, May you not be de-throned. Babbling as I choose to drink at least one more beer. I just decided it's gonna be a North Coast Old Stock Ale. Yes I understand I don't need a beer with almost 12% zing. Yet I will drink one. Cheers.

Good evening BAs! Having this right now. The unbearable Chicago football team season is finally over. Cheers all!

 

La Trappe Oak-aged Quad, into a chalice. This batch is 75% aged in cognac barrels and 25% aged in...erm some other shit. Heaps of grapes, figs (esters) bright sharp brandy/cognac and a surprising amount of vanilla. Juicy mouthfeel. Been ages since I have had the regular La Trappe Quad, too long to compare by memory, but this is better than I remember that being.

Way on the bright side here for a quad, a nice change of pace. A shame this is so expensive but at least now I know at least some of the batches potentially match their price. Would be interesting to find a cognac-bourbon batch, it's cool to see a brewery experimenting this much with each batch.

Sierra Nevada Narwhal - roasty deliciousness! Not nearly as acridly bitter as I feared. Plenty of body, though also not as big or boozy and I thought it would be either. Will definitely be getting this again.

but...with what I see charged at games....I imagine each fine brew cost you $12-$15 (or a great 4 pack of high quality at a Bev Mo or other fine venue)

I always say, prior to games/concerts...."nope...not caving in"...and I always succumb to my demons and purchase/consume...

Back home from a weekend down the shore capped off with a family get together at grandmas. Wife and kids stayed behind at the in laws until I make the trek back down on Wednesday. All by my lonesome now...but this Bastard is always welcome company. Hoping for a SNF slobber knocker. Cheers.

2012 Southern Tier Oak Aged Imperial Back Burner

 

Sipping this. Drinking good now, getting the cherries, but not overwhelming, and pretty smooth. Slainte!

Now I'm getting ready for the Bengals game tonight, before they choke in the playoffs later as usual.

 

No picture (phone's broken), but I'm currently drinking a N'Ice Chouffe from Brasserie D'Achouffe.

 

Have been out of town for awhile. Picked this glass up in Cary at Triangle Wine Company on the way back. Certainly not ready to head back to work tomorrow.

 

Time to get more applicable with my DIPAs for SNF. If we win tonight, we get to lose our playoff game at home. If we lose, looks like a playoff loss at Indy. #whodey #daltonsucks

 

Spent the afternoon at the parent's house; exchanged gifts, had some (store bought) fried chicken, homemade mac 'n' cheese, my Mom's famous Jell-O salad and shared that remaining bottle of Sucks with my Pops!

This beer is so goddamn good!
So got home and decided to try out this River Horse Hop Hazard that my friend left from last night's open house

Review on NBS...This is not good to me. Oh, well it was free, however this ended up being a drain pour. Couldn't even force this one down.

Starting off:

Got some today, haven't had it since last year. Really nice fruit stout. Balanced tart cherry and stout flavors. I've always enjoyed it.


This years release is tasting delicious. Blood orange and peppercorn flavors are really well balanced now. Nice citrus tartness. Always awesome.


Feb 2012 bottle. This is always world class for me with age. I consistently put it above the variants. Huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, biscuit, and molasses with some restrained dark fruit notes. Some modest roast malt bitterness. Just insanely incredible, every time. I always keep an aged 4 pack around.
