    Goose Island Night Stalker 2012. This was from the batch widely said to be autolyzed, 11/19/2012. I don't know if the chief flavor of autolysis---soy sauce---is supposed to fade with age, but I don't taste any here. That's not to say it is amazing the way earlier batches aged, however. A surprisingly large hop kick is still present, which is very odd considering I remember this being the least hoppy batch of Night Stalker. However, there is ample chocolatey malt sweetness coating the mouth to balance the hops. I almost want to say there is a hint of meat here, which might be the autolysis...if there ever was any. Still, predominantly dark chocolate with a touch of milk chocolate, espresso and orange peel. As with Bourbon County, the texture is thick and a touch (too) oily. The finish suggests milk chocolate, plums, and leather.

    Pretty enjoyable. Not as good as I remember earlier batches aging, but good. Not great. Glad I have one bottle left.

    Decided to do a side-by-side with the regular and the BBA version. Bad idea. A lot of alcohol, a lot of stout all at once. together.
