Not sure which i tasted first but I am happy to report I enjoyed them both very much. At first I liked the aroma better on the Pliny and the taste on the Heady but with each sip i am more confused. Wish Miss Alabama was here to help me decide. Both great beers and deserving of all the praise.

I'm having a less than one month old Ruthless Rye. It's very tasty. I'm also watching the LSU@Auburn basketball game.

Hopslam and Sucks side by side. Very good and very different.

    And the winner is...

    2011- A: 4 S: 4.5 T: 4.5 M/D: 4 O: 4.5
    2012- A: 5 S: 3.5 T: 4.5 M/D:5 O: 4.5

2011 had a wonderful aroma of dark fruits that was far superior to 2012 which had a very roast forward aroma with some astrigent medicinal aromas. However, 2012 had a much better appears with a big dense head, that had incredible retetion and left beautiful lacing, as opposed to the 2011 version with poorer retention and minimal lacing. Mouthfeel also went to 2012, which had a velvety smooth and decadent mouthfeel. Taste were both wonderful, but significantly different. 2012 has more milk chocolate, vanilla, and heavy cream notes, whereas 2011 had stronger roasted and dark fruit flavors. Overall, I think I prefered 2012. The nose was slightly offputting but the comnbination of near perfect mouthfeel and a flavor profile that I found slightly more enojoyable, gave it the advantage. What a wonderful beer.

And capping the evening, this naughty beer was trying to hide in my fridge avoiding consumption. Well I found you, and it is time to be imbibed.

Not bad, nothing groundbreaking, but a solid spiced ale here.

After that - a 30 min walk to Sharp Edge on Penn and a Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout. Will probably finish off the night with a IPA.

    Dear Founders,

Now that I have left the Upper Midwest, I'm sorry that I ever took your presence for granted.

Moved on to a Winter Storm. I'd recommend to anyone that's not into the really spiced winter ales. Very well balanced.

A friend of mine bought me a chimay variety pack for Christmas and this glass was inside. It's the standard chimay logo on one side, and this logo on the other. It was bought in New Hampshire. It's a great glass.
