    Currently breaking in the new glasses I got today (50 cents each, so I went ahead and grabbed two!) with my second bottle of Samuel Adams Harvest Saison.

    How do you pronounce "Saison" anyway? I want to say "sai" like the ninja weapon and "son" like... kind of like saw with an N on the end. But I'm guessing that's not quite right.

    ...wait, is this really the same beer I had from that first bottle?? Because this is a lot better than what came out of the first bottle.

    The first one had this weird almost greasy/smoky sort of taste to it (difficult to really describe... but it was like a slightly milder version of the weird and undesirable flavor what I picked up from the last two bottles of the Leffe Blonde six-pack I had months ago, overpowering and replacing the nice banana-y sort of flavor that had been in the other bottles from the same Leffe six-pack) and even looked a bit different than this one does--this one is a lot clearer and has streams of tiny little bubbles rising up from the bottom (much like the good Leffe bottles), while the first one was hazier and less bubbly (...like the bad Leffe bottles. Hmm. Seems to be a pattern developing here.) And the weird greasy taste is nowhere to be found--for just a moment when I took my first sip I thought there was going to be just a bit of it there this time too, but then what I thought was going to be the "off" taste from before quickly transformed into a much more pleasant "roasted" sort of taste and mixed in with the grain-type flavors going on. A little banana-y when I burp, but I'm not really picking up much banana during the actual drinking part--it's all "multigrain" and roastedness and occasional bits of faint spice here and there.

    Still not my favorite of the four just-past-the-best-by-date Samuel Adams beers I've tried, but a massive improvement over whatever was going on in the first bottle I had. I no longer regret buying two bottles of this one now. XD

    Picked up a cold from my kids. Trying to fight it off with hops (duh); teaching on a cold is a major bitch. Getting on to the new Sixpoint brew: Beast Mode!

    Not bad; not what I'd grab for a porter, though. Really interesting. I don't think I'd pick "porter" if I were drinking this blind; then, that matches with Sixpoint's style and creativity, I suppose.

    @jhartley What a great freaking album. "Satan's son, I'm born of fire!" Nothing tops Dead Skin Mask; seeing Slayer live about 10 years ago was amazing. Though, this is what I was listening to earlier:



    I don't think Seasons in the Abyss can be topped, personally, but I also think God Hates Us All won't be equaled by them again, either.
