Maple Porter at a local brewpub called The Tap in Haverhill. Not incredible, but good enough to session a pitcher :grinning:

    Reviews:

Very nice imperial red. Balanced nose with bright citrus/pine hops, dark/bready malt, and spicy rye notes. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toast, toffee, spicy rye bread, light roast malt, and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate amount of pine bitterness and rye spice on the finish. Nice hop and malt complexity, with a really nice balance of each; not overly bitter or sweet, but still has an impressive amount of bitterness combined with the rye spice. Very smooth sipping with a moderately crisp/sticky mouthfeel with some light creaminess. Very well done.

Review #2900. Absolutely insane. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, fudge, licorice, dark bread, spicy rye, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, oak, raisin, prune, tobacco, and light smoke/char. Fair amount of roasty bitterness on the finish. Incredible balance of the barrel and very deep dense malt flavors. Very thick body and creamy/slick mouthfeel. No booziness, but some moderate warmth present after the finish. Just simply amazing. I personally think that the base beer is absolutely world class; and this basically has every single complexity of that beer, with some more mellowed out notes of the higher roasty/smoky malt flavors with included barrel complexity. DAMN

Very solid, you can definitely taste the Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry in it, the Barrel Aged was good, but harder to taste the Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry.

It's a shame that these beers by Rhinelander feature such over the top malt presence, that the true flavor of what it is supposed to be is masked

The apple really begins to pop as it warms. Sweet and creamy. One thing I really like about Prairie's barrel aging is that it compliments the beer without overpowering it.

Mild, is putting it lightly (obviously):

Decent enough in the pantheon of session IPAs, especially because it just hit shelves. Actually, not that watery, which is a huge plus. I still don't know why I keep trying session IPAs.

p.s. Is it IPAs or IPA's?

Depends on the context. "These IPAs are great!" or this "Their IPA's are the best!"

A year plus. Wow. This is way different. Cellaring is about discipline. Worth it!

this still has a faint grassy piney hop and a mellowed malt bill. Unreal. I will find it this year too and put it away.
