Brewed about 45 minutes from my house. They have some nice offerings !
Only 1 left. You can do it!
lickinghole? all i hear is "tongue punching"
A little nitecapper to celebrate making it out of the storm in one piece and my Islanders beating the Rangers (again). Back to work tomorrow, but I'm going to enjoy the win and the sticky-icky before I go to bed.
Finally, a fresh bottle.
Holy chocolatey fucking crap this is good!
First review was 2.18.14
I'm currently enjoying the Ovila Abbey Quad but I picked up a six pack of the Barrel Aged Carhart Woodsman as well.
Holy shit. This beer has some heat. I like it though.
This was really damn delicious. Nice huge nose of blood orange and citrus peels with some light-moderate pale/honey maltiness. Taste of big juicy blood orange, tangerine, lemon, orange peel, wheat, honey, biscuit, and light herbal/grassy hops. Minimal herbal hop bitterness; with robust and balanced pale/honey malt sweetness and orange citrus flavors. Zero cloying at all. Medium carb/body; some wheat creaminess and maybe a touch of fruit tartness, barely any. Seriously really nice and everything I expected out of a fruited pale wheat ale. Balanced and robust pale malts and big citrus fruit flavors. Wouldn't mind grabbing this again when it gets warmer.
Awesome imperial stout. Nice aromas with dark chocolate/coffee/toast/molasses notes with nuttiness and some raisin/plum fruits. Taste really boldly shines out. Huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, toast, dark bread, nuttiness, raisin, plum, light licorice, and light smoke/char. Fair amount of roast/char bitterness on the finish. Really great malt complexity with some moderate nuttiness and dark fruits from the walnuts and candi sugar. Great bitterness/sweetness balance of roasted malts. Nice creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel with a bit of roasted malt chalkiness(probably also from the walnuts). Alcohol warming is very restrained considering the ABV, and is a very smoooth sipper. All around just really well put together and very impressive.
Stillwater/AtG collab saison. Really nice stuff. This is super similar to Jester King Censored, which I thought was seriously great. A moderately gusher opening, but not too violent. Nice herbal sage/wood smoke nose with tart lemon, lime, orange peel, green apple, pepper, clove, hay, straw, grass, cracker, bread, light vinegar, and musty brett funk. Taste of tart lemon, lime, orange peel, green apple, sage, wood smoke, pepper, wheat, bread, light honey, herbal, straw, grass, light vinegar, and musty brett funk. Nice spicy saison finish with some light tart/vinegar-like notes. Good smoke malt balance with the rustic brett saison character with moderate malt sweetness. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth and crisp finish; with a minimal acidity as well. Really well done, but I can see why the rating is how it is. It's extremely unique, just like the Jester King; but I love crazy ass experimental beers, so there you go.
Finally got my hands on these, 2 to drink and 2 to the "cellar". (this is also my 99th beer rating and only my second barley-wine @4.27) All you others weren't lying, me thinks me likey!
Little Texas swagga fo dat ass
Just a hair behind Cantillon! Delish.
Seriously Unfiltered, some serious "dna strand" looking stuff in this one !!
Grinding out the school work. The wife just let me know she's going up to Wichita to provide moral support for our niece, her Dad is a death's door, pulmonary failure. He never married my sister-in law, so sort of a quasi in-law. Hadn't talked to the guy in 22 years, so although I feel bad for him & my niece, I don't really feel anything on this. Sad deal.
NB Slow Ride & now on to a Marshall El Cu Cuy.
South Austin Brewery: Kol' Beer
These should get me to the weekend
tastes like heaven.....or an angel fallen from heaven anyway
Some more hot 4-Way (ménage à quatre?) action.
somebody needs their nails trimmed .. I bet you hear him (or her) coming from a mile away! click-clack click-clack click-clack
10 Barrel Jamaican Me Pumpkin.
My last beer as a twenty seven year old, and its AWESOME. Cycle Brewing Rickshaw Amarillo Dry Hopped DIPA
On the hardwood it's like a tap dancing marathon when he gets excited!
One of my favorite spiced IPAs. Really well balanced hops and juniper/spruce flavors. Got a couple left, need to work on the rest of the 4-6 mixed shorts 6er's I got going on. I nearly always buy a full pack of all the new releases.
One of my favorite non-imperial gravity amber ales along with Bells amber. Balanced malt and hop flavors just as it should be.
Nice to have a year round and sessionable Mexican stout on the shelves around here. Always damn good stuff.
All you BA's that are in the midst of Snowmegedon 2015, stay safe and warm
This beer never fails to disappoint
One of my newest favorites, Dolly Dagger. Isn't she a beauty?
Watching the Mavs lose once again ... still going HAM
Mmmmmmmm... Breakfast ... aaggghhhh....
For you New Englanders...
Just seeing a picture of Juicy Tree makes my mouth water. Such a great ale.
2015 Bigfoot. Loving this year's batch. Not as hot as last year's was when fresh.
Dolly Dagger was great for me as well. Can't wait for the new batch of goodnight bodacious too. Seriously awesome beer right there. Fun fact I just read today: Shorts shipped 51% more beer in 2014 than 2013. They have been killing it with the new releases, and I certainly have contributed to that growth
yeah, between my ONE dog and TWO cats, I totally feel ya!
Heh, you and me both. And yes, the releases scheduled for this year are insane. The only thing that would have been more excited are limited releases of Uber Goober or PB&J (one of my first Short's I had, right at the pub), or OMGWTFBBQ!
Happy birthday, bro!
