    Don't get too excited, just 'cause it's home brew doesn't mean it going to turn out. I do OK but there's others here who have the process down way better than I do like dachshunddude86 and shuggy only to name a few and I know I'm missing hundreds of others on here (to which I apologize). Anyone can toss a bunch of stuff into a boiling kettle but the art is crafting it to do what you want and taste good. (That's the hard part!!)

    Moved onto another new beer, Weyerbacher's Merry Monks...

    Really liked it - wasn't sure at first, but as I drank it and it warmed, I really warmed to it - I'm a staunch fan of Westmalle's tripel, and I really enjoy the style... this might be my favorite Weyerbacher drink to-date (got their Quad lined up next)...

    Drinking Belgian-styled beers, listening to Swedish bands performing French pop songs from the 60's.
    And having a great time, I might add.

    You are correct, this was their first barrel aged release. When they first got the barrels they were talkin about releasing bottles every couple of months to see where the sweet spot is. I don't know if they will stick to that plan or not, but I was happy to get some of these. Glad you enjoyed them both! How did the growler hold up, try it yet?

    I have only seen the process once but I thought I understood it good but not great. I do have experience in making liquers at home such as limoncello, apple christmas and even with fennel!
