Still playing it safe tonight, drinking beers that I know I enjoy. Tomorrow will be experimental night with some recent trade beers I've received.

This one, however, never lets me down...

Just had 2012 Black Note. My comparison thoughts: very close in smell, taste - I like black note better right now, the BCS is too hot on the bourbon now where the black note it was there but not as up front and you get more complexity in the other flavors. I think the BCS is going to be amazing with age, but the Black Note is amazing right now.

This is my 2nd exposure to them. Previously had the Apricot sour and loved it. Also have the Kriek & Blueberry that I'm sitting on. They do sours damn well. So happy I discovered them.

The Kriek is fantastic and the latest release is one of their best. The Blueberry is always stellar as well. I place an order with them 4-5 times a year. I have about 12 Cascade bottles in the cellar right now.

Prairie Artison Ales, Prairie Noir barrel aged imperial stout.

It's fantastic and the best thing I've tasted coming out of Oklahoma.

Awesome! Can't wait to try those too.

Based on my experiences with them, I think they're officially a must-visit on my next trip to Portlandia

Death pairs very well with any beer, and anything else for that matter.

Working on this forgotten (and soon to be on hiatus) Founders beer. Took me two years to finally buy it...it's ok.

Totally agree. I'm thinking of making a trip to Portland this summer to hit Deschutes, Cascade, Hair of the Dog, etc. etc.

there's ways in which i can see that russian river, lost abbey, and allagash are "better" at sours than cascade (maybe ithaca-before-head-brewer-left, bruery, and some others too), but honestly i could drink only their sours and be happy. apricot and sang rouge are so good.

    ---

in other news, this islay whisky xyauyu is making my palate push me toward scotch instead of bourbon, which my wallet does not appreciate in the slightest.

I really was impressed by this one myself. Wish this one made it to Oklahoma

Went & saw Zero Dark Thirty with the wife, she scares easily & about jumped outta her seat three times with various bomb blasts & such:D

Now after watching Ted, its Uinita's Duhbe Black Ale, nice with some Sam Adams Irish Red & a WWII movie on the Miltiary channel, pretty eventful Saturday Night for this old Fart...
