Schlenkerla Fastenbier. This is a nice brew. Some smokiness, but nothing too overpowering.
Revisit review day this week again, found a few I wanted to revisit.
Nice fruited pale wheat ale. Aromas and flavors of tart cherry, lemon, pear, apple, light banana, clove, wheat, biscuit, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light tartness and yeast spice on the finish. Really well balanced between the fruit and yeast notes with good robust bready pale malt flavors. Very smooth and moderately creamy mouthfeel. Really tasty overall. Fells like a genuinely spot on APWA to style, with added cherry juice flavors that aren't overdone. I feel like the overall quality of this brewery has been going up recently.
After having the BBA version of this beer, it was really damn obvious I got a bad bottle of this a few years ago. And I was right. Aromas and flavors of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, toast, dark bread, vanilla, cream, light nuttiness, and slight herbal hops. Light roast bitterness on the finish gives some balance; but there is zero cloying sweetness present after the finish. Great robust and balanced flavors of the chocolate and dark malts. There is actually no roasted grains in this at all which is unique, the dark chocolate additions make up for that. This is leaps and bounds better than my first review of it, there was an overly yeasty off-note going on with that bottle. This is a just a step below the BBA one I had a few weeks ago. Really delicious. I may even buy some more of this in the future now.
Random ass back of the shelf store find last weekend. Pushing 2 years old now. Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, spicy rye, dark bread, nuttiness, raisin, prune, date, and oak/bourbon spiciness with some light charred notes. Moderate roast/char bitter finish with some rye/oak spiciness. Really well balanced overall; a lot more depth and complexity than I remember it 19 months ago on the original review. Very smooth sipping for 13%; zero booziness, but some light lingering warmth present after the finish as anticipated. Really damn awesome. Age has helped this one out for sure.
If I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times: best card in the deck says simply: Dick Fingers.
2012 Two Brothers Bare Tree Barley Wine Style Weiss Beer.
WOOO. This is so damn smooth and going down quick. I checked the ABV for the 2012 and it's 11.3%. No wonder I'm feeling goofy. Two Brothers is always hit and miss with me, but this is a definite winner. The cork wasn't a winner. It was a miserable failure. Pieces everywhere. Cheers!
Yeah, this is my first, and it sucks knowing it was my only one. Oh well, another day, perhaps.
Good mix for the night: Home brew (oatmeal stout), Ithaca Flower Power, Bell's Saturn
A Pliny The Elder. No picture needed.
Assuming this is my last beer for the night...
If you'd like to trade for a few more let me know.
The others sound nice, but I'm sure your home brew is the best. Keep on keepin on!
Back at it with the first beer of dinner; '13 Oude Tart w/ Cherries!
I would definitely take you up on that offer. Remember this name, haha. I almost can't bare to finish these last few sips.
This is a very nice beer, and at less than $7 a bomber, it is, pound for pound, one of the better espresso beers out there, IMHO........
Finishing off my Bomb and watching "Montage of Heck" and loving this band that has produced so many love and hate songs for me.
Same vid you posted that turned me onto The Sword. Now they are one of my favorite bands right now. That is still one of my favorite songs by them. The Sword are just straight up classic metal stylings done right. Awesome band.
Great beer, to style I'm sure, made in state. Ash & Alder
Good Oatmeal Stout, nice and chewy.......
Such a great band, and How Heavy this Axe is just kickass!

First Transmigration of Souls, wow @DerekCarruth, this one is rocking my world in a different way that Tropicalia did. So much pineapple, mango, and papaya with a lot of malty sweetness. I might finish the beer before I even start eating dinner!
Not this mediocre beer again
couldn't make it to the Finish Line with the Rooster Fish pale ale.
