    Good evening, BAs! I wasn't sure I was going to drink today, but then I saw this beauty staring at me from the beer closet, and ... that was that.

    2010 Pannepot Grand Reserva

    I'm so glad I went with this, too, especially on a fresh palate. This is, without hyperbole, one of the best beers I have ever had. I'm honestly stunned it clocks in at only a 4.3 rAvg. I actually waffled back and forth between 5.0 and 4.75 on flavor, before going with the former.

    4.85 - second highest beer I've ever rated, and I absolutely think it's deserving.

    Oh, and in typical, amazing Belgian style: 5 years on this bottle (likely on store shelves at room temperature), and it's perfectly smooth and aged. Not the slightest hint of any negative oxidation or off flavors. Divine.

    Finished up this brew when I started the meal, moved onto revisit 1554 (pictured). Thought I Wanna Rye It was nicely constructed, unsurprisingly. I thought rye came out. What'd you think?

    I recall liking 1554, then having it fall out of favor. Revisit reminds me of both feelings: nice roasted notes in this lager, very smooth mouthfeel; but a bit watery, and a weak coffee impression I can see growing with some warmth.

    Food pairs well - chili is just ok, but the sauce it generates with the pasta water works well. Cheers!

    Heavy Seas Blackbeard's Breakfast, bourbon barrel aged porter brewed with coffee (what Victory At Sea would taste like BBA but without the vanilla). A fantastic brew!
