Amsterdam Bourbon Barrel Aged Double Tempest

This is one I completely lost track of and let sit too long. Still really good though, thick mouthfeel, lots of roast/char/coffee/bourbon. Bottled November 2014 and supposedly cellarable for 3 years. I bought a few 2021 today that I don’t plan to age for as long.

 

A Belgian cherry vanilla stout from @Electros!



Really enjoyable, would purchase for myself in a heartbeat. I love cherry in a beer and this is very well done. Interestingly enough, I had a couple of Duchesse Chocolate Cherry this week which overall comes across too medicinal.

...well on the path to insensibility.

 

A “new” one from Garrison, I think it’s just Hoppy Buoy renamed. But it’s a nice non-hazy, bitter IPA and on sale for $13 a 6-pack. Noice!

 

Not Canadian, but a visit to the Guinness Storehouse today in Dublin was quite enjoyable!

 

That West Indies Porter was fantastic…very sweet, medium/thick mouth feel, some bitterness.

 

It’s a hot, muggy day. We’re drinking Moose Lights!

Drinking a Black Stone Porter from Driftwood. Had briefly appeared on store shelves out here in NB this past spring as a one-off shipment. A really solid beer that fills the gap nicely after Fullers London Porter disappeared around here. Now I have neither, ugh!

On vacation last week, this one was fantastic.

 

How was the barrel? Sometimes I find whiskey barrel strong and astringent. I really like Tata's other big beers, but was wary of this one.

 

A nice maibock from Tatamagouche:

 

No astringency. I might overrate this one slightly because I don’t get the chance to try much barrel- aged stuff…only other one I got this year was a few bottles of Double Tempest. Anyway I really enjoyed it!
