I’ve lost interest in pastry stouts for the most part, but this was quite good yesterday afternoon.

Seemed like a good idea to drink this one while it still feels like winter. A 2020 Garrison chocolate stout:

 

Muddy York Puffy Deluxe IPA. Muddy York beers are always good and this is no exception.

Town x Fogorig Velvet Elvis DIPA.

This was an odd one. Tropical, but significantly bitter. A bit of a crossover IPA I presume.

 

Badlands x Le Ketch Dock 13926 NEIPA from last night. Solid.

 

Great brewery.

 

Rouge River Rougetar IPA. Solid hazy IPA with Riwaka and HBC-1019. I’m a Riwaka fan so was looking forward to this. lots of Lychee and tropical notes. Cheers!

Rouge River Tropicali Hybrid IPA.

This is excellent to my tastes. It has the tropical notes and body of a NEIPA, but a strong bitter finish of a WIPA. Right up my alley. Cheers!

 

Bottlecap by Twin City Brewing. They've tried to recreate a cherry cola sour gummy but not by using the candy. Because it's actually very good, I'll include the description from the brewery here. "This liquid nostalgia was inspired by the flavors of a Sour Cherry Cola Gummy. Our light wheat ale base acidified by our house culture of Lactobacillus then fermented with a clean Ale yeast. Hopped heavily with Eukanot and conditioned on over 80lbs of both Sweet and Tart Cherry purees. Natural Cola flavours are then infused into the beer and the result is mildly tart and incredibly familiar. Best enjoyed with Pizza and Video Games."

 

Hitting the cellar tonight. It’s a 2018 Garrison Fog Burner, which is drinking mighty fine. I also managed to stock up on 2021 bottles when I was in Halifax a few weeks ago…

 

Safely back across the border now but a few hours ago I was in Verdun at Bistro Garage Café drinking a surprisingly tasty draught NE-style IPA from McAuslan...

MacKroken Flower Sarrasin, a scotch ale with buckwheat flower honey from Le Bilboquet Microbrasserie...



Not as great a beer as the OG MacKroken Flower was, I think, but at 10.8% abv, it sure as hell gets the job done. Fortunately, dinner is already made and I have nothing more important to do than to take a nap.

 

Péché Latte, the milk stout rendition of Péché Mortel...



The bottle itself resisted being focused on. Whatever that means.

...but I do love me some oatmeal stout.

 

The Sprut by Mount Arrowsmith Brewing in Parksville, BC.

An EXCELLENT dry IPA that won Gold last year for Experimental IPAs at the World Beer Cup (whatever that is worth). Apparently brewed with locally sourced spruce tips. All I know is that it's tasty as hell and I'm gonna be picking up some more tomorrow. Check it out if you're on Vancouver Island or in Vancouver. I'll try to remember to post a picture tomorrow.

 

A new double IPA from Dageraad in Burnaby. Very nice. Delicious fruity hoppy and not a hint of the 9.5 ABV.

Backcountry 'Locker Room Lager' @ 4.9%
Fuggles & Warlock 'Warp Speed Lager' @ 5.0% , all served from 473 ml cans
& new to me

with some American Adjunct Lagers , all new to me served from 473 ml cans
first up Hoyne Brewing 'Por Favor' Mexican Style Lager @ 4.4%
followed by Moon Under Water Brewpub 'Mexican Vienna Lager' @ 4.8%
then Luppolo Brewing 'El Malecon' Mexican-Style Corn Lager @ 5.0%
and tonight's closer Driftwood Brewery 'Spiff Corn Lager' @ 5.1%
