I'm not familiar with Italian beers yet- they just started showing up on the shelves around here. But I really am interested in getting into them- your passion for them is certainly infectious and is pushing me their way!

    Considering one of the following:

    Founders Imperial Stout
    Ommegang Gnomegang
    Founders Backwoods Bastard
    Smuttynose Finestkind

    prooooooobably going with Imperial Stout.

Thanks Tongo! Feel free to beermail with any questions!

In reference to this L'Ultima Luna, all I can describe was a barleywine aged in french oak barrels that had Italian wines, and the taste is a distanc chocolate taste with a unique soy flavor. Not what I expected but I DID finish the bottle, albeit I did cap it and have a little each day until gone.

If I was to suggest an Italian beer to have first I would try the Baladin Super which is belgian style or Birra Del Borgo Reale or Reale Extra.

Enjoying my first one of these this year...finally! Took a lot of work to find it this year, as DC and VA have seen none in bottles and no one seems to know when its coming. I fortunately was able to case a case at 2 different stores in MD. Cheers.

    Weird.
