    Good morning bourbon affecianatos...

Happy Saturday. I'm heading to the Smokey Mountains with my family Monday and it would appear whiskey will be easier to find than beer. Practicing now. Cheers!

I really like this bourbon. Unfortunately, I'm running low and it's hard to find around here.

I was asking after it last week at Total wine, and apparently its a rarity there, too - seen enough of it posted here that I'm officially on the look-out... lol

Unlike antelope (goat), their bourbon has grown on me. Definitely one of the best young craft bourbons. You would swear it was finished in a secondary barrel though. Very brandy, or cherry like flavor.

    The fancy stuff :stuck_out_tongue::

Think I paid $13 plus tax for this one. The Green Label was $9, so I figure this high-dollar white label should be awesome, and for $13, I'm not sure I can beat it. Very cinnamony.

    Cheers!

Was out in JH over the winter, Roadhouse Brewing had a stout aged in Wyoming Whiskey barrels. It was outstanding. There was so much vanilla flavor I asked if they added vanilla when aging, but was told no adjuncts, just the character of the WW barrels.

If out that way, definitely worth a stop.

Wild Turkey 101. I always ponder when I drink this. Is it the most under appreciated bourbon in America? Evan Williams single barrel always comes to mind too (along with BiB and black label for that matter), but a 100+ proof with this much flavor for $19?

Hit Total Wine for some stuff, including white and dark rum, a bigger bottle of Cointreau, a six-pack of Prima Pils, and a bottle of one of my favorite bourbons...
Smooth, with sweet vanilla caramel and dark fruit, notes like coconut and leather, and a solid drying oak char... I never had their 12 year, but it musta been somethin' special...

    Cheers...

I never had the 12-year-old either, but I've heard what you've heard, that it was better than the current non-age statement version. That's possible I guess, but the current version is no pushover.

It was one of my first! Ironically, it was suggested by a friend from a music sharing program. BIG oak (which I love). Haven't tried the NAS version but have heard its close enough for me not want to rush out and "repeat"

Rowan's Creek (made by Willett/Kentucky Bourbon Distillers). Always a good choice for me, and at 100 proof, pretty stout, though not as much as some of Willett's other bourbons. Goes perfect with some Townes Van Zandt.

2014 Ten Fidy with something I’ve wanted to try for awhile. I thank @TimG_0913 so much for offering me, but I’m standing on line at a local place today, and boom(!) just staring me in the face. Early Fathers Day gift.
So smooth. A bit of like a sherry sweetness. Like I want to lick my upper lip. Oak oak oak. Yes. Very worthy of the praise.

Finishing this bottle off to make room for something else on the shelf. The Antique will always have a spot, but unfortunately it’s getting harder to routinely buy.

    Ironroot score!
Didn't expect to find any Ironroot south of Dallas, but went window-shopping at a Total Wine in Austin, and I'll be damned ...

Starting with the Promethean ... very tasty with a pinch of Texas terroir giving it a cedar/earthy flavor:
Hung out on Congress Street bridge to see the bats tonight ... the bats mostly slept in:
While the bats did little more than flit about, I ran into someone from L.A. who gave me a couple ideas for my July vacation that way. McLeod's for cask ale and the tour at the Lost Spirits Distillery. Kinda cool!

    Cheers!
