In an attempt to shift the focus from "musictoday sucks" and "I got group x" conversations I thought it'd be fun to discuss what BA Dark Lord variants everyone is hoping to see this year at DLD.

Based on last years base beer I think that a spicy coffee or Raspberry variation would be a tasty addition to the BBA Vanilla they've done the past couple years.

What BA variations do you want to buy with your winning scratch off or trade for next month?

Thin Mint Dark Lord. That or Kit Kat Dark Lord. Or Kit Kat Dark Lord aged in Dr. Pepper barrels.

Or some regular Dark Lord would suit me fine. Fine like wine.

If we're going cereal style here I've gotta throw Cinnamon Toast Crunch Dark Lord in the mix.

Carmel Apple Dark Lord has a nice ring to it as well.

Port does sound very interesting. I'd be interested in some sort of fruit aged in rum barrels. I really enjoyed the Revolution 3rd Year Beer aged in rum barrels. Not sure how an RIS would work vs a barleywine, but I wouldn't mind trying it. Either way I'm in Group E, so the way people talk on here I won't have a shot at anything aged anyhow. I'll live.

They'll do something weird like Bordeaux barrels and charge $80/bottle.
I wouldn't be surprised to see wine barrels used. It's become more common over the past year or so

    BOOK IT.

You'll get a shot, just if FFF lets everyone in A-D pick what they want, then you'll only have a shot at the least desirable variant, which will still be worth it. I actually suggested to them to allocate an equal amount of each variant for each group. Who knows, maybe they'll listen. What would even be more fair if the scratch-offs just indicated which exact variant you could buy, and not let the customer choose at all.

Well you know FFF is always receptive to customer concerns and ideas so I'm sure that's a go. That's how they've won all those customer service awards over the years. They're like the brewing equivalent of ace hardware.

About a month ago I asked nicely on twitter for them to please not sell DLD tickets during Stout Fest because a lot of their best customers would be there and unable to buy... I'm SURE, it was me they listened to and bumped the ticket sale to Sunday
