What Happened to Oskar Blues IPA?

I will start by saying that I absolutely adored this beer. It came in a silver and blue can - I think some folks even called it "Blue Dream" - and was packed with hops from down under. Really big tropical fruit notes, and reasonable ABV in the lower 6% range.

Sadly, this staple of my beer diet slowly began disappearing from my local shelves, until one day without realizing it, I consumed my last can.

It's not on the website any longer, nor is Deviant Dales or Gubna. I get that you've gotta keep the lineup fresh in order to stay relevant, but I was curious if anyone knows the story as to why these items fell out of the lineup - the blue can IPA especially. I haven't experimented much with the Can-o-bliss series - are any of those close? My secret hope is that my beloved libation has merely changed clothes and occupies a shelf near me.

One final tidbit. I read, back in the day, that the same brew was marketed under the Cigar City banner as "Hoppy Floppy". Can't find much out the interwebs about any of this, so I'm hoping one of you beer nuts knows the scoop. Thanks!

Deviant Dale's, much to my chagrin, was discontinued years ago. No surprises they shit canned IPA as well.

Try contacting the brewery, probably get a better answer.

OP I totally remember this one. I want to say they are going with an alt to chase the hazy craze. I don't see it on their website least I did not notice it there. A solid beer it was, I want to say last time I saw it around me was maybe 6 mos ago or more. Check the mix 6 sections, odds are there may be a few cans dying there.
    Cheers

It was certainly an excellent beer! Due to saturation, it was most likely left behind. Sad.

I liked the blue can ipa.

I wonder if their Mexican lager, Beerito, was also discontinued. I didn’t see it on their site and I haven’t seen it in a shop in a long time.

I'm guessing it was replaced by the canobliss series of IPAs.

It doesn't seem like we've gotten any new OB here over the past six months, just whatever was on the shelves six months ago trickling away. We haven't gotten the 12oz BA Fidy. Maybe they're pulling out of our market, which would be sad because I'd hoped we'd start getting Cigar City too.

10.50 is one of my favorite non BA beers, and I cant find it anywhere. Just the BA version. Sad face.

I remember being at the brewery when they launched the IPA, to great fanfare, and being roundly confused. Dale's is the OB IPA, and a damn near perfect one at that.

    I would agree with this.

I used to by their IPA with some regularity but ever since the can o bliss series came out I don’t recall seeing the ipa. Similar style IPAs so it would seem redundant. A benefit to the can o bliss is it’s a rotating release so one would assume that you can find fresher stock.

    I see

    Pinner, 3-4 months old

    Mammas pils.....pretty fresh

Mix 15 packs, pinner, dales, Mama, can o bliss and G’night....pretty fresh

Most times these are $12-17. I only buy at $12/13.

The mix used to have the IPA and I liked the IPA best of all their hoppy beer.

Not a fan of the bliss I have tried.

    Enjoy

I liked that beer, too, but figured it had just disappeared from my local market. I had no idea it had disappeared nationwide.

The six packs are $12-$17?! PA is expensive for beer. I live in a high cost of living area but our beer prices seems pretty good. Most Oskar blues runs $8 (dales, mama, canobliss) and bit more for g’night.

The ipa was a great buy as it was $7.99 and I could usually find it pretty fresh and stored cold.

What's all this about the can o bliss being a series? Do they change the hop bill or something?
