Depends on where you are - I'd prefer not to name places that are an hour or more from you. That said, there's the Home Brew Shop on Main St in St. Charles - always good conversation, good selection, and very reasonable prices. The Brewers Coop attached to Two Brothers Brewery in Warrenville has a fair selection and ok prices. The staff doubles as hosts for the adjacent Taphouse, so they're not nearly as conversant (not their fault). The best part is that you're in for a real treat if you enjoy great pub food and some mighty fine craft beer. Then there's Brew and Grow. I've only been to the Roselle location. Excellent selection of equipment and ingredients at some pretty decent prices.

brew and grow in bollingbrook has the best prices compared to the shop in st charles and 2 bros - and the old dude working there is really knowledgable. the chick at 2 bros that home brews knows her stuff but isnt always there and the other kids that host the restaurant and sell the home brew products arent old enough to drink and dont homebrew so good luck with that. the pub grub is great there but the beer is meh - imo

Hands down CBW Chicago Brewwerks. Brandon Wright gives great advise and has the best prices. Located in Plainfield, www.chicagobrewwerks.com
