beverage air BM 23 is generally considered the bench mark, but not necessarily the Cadillac.
you can't go wrong with True and Beverage Air.
this is pro equipment, and while they are rock solid and will work right out of the box they are commercial appliances with some drawbacks.

some others have their favorites as well.

if you are the guy that has to have the most expensive toy o the block, then get yourself a Beverage Air BM 23S or a True TDD1-S. actually you can spend more, but it's pointless.
    Cheers.

Perlick if you wanna blow your wad.. As Bill said Bev Air and True are the top two sold, wouldn't recommend the "S" models which is stainless cabinet. Scratches and dents to easy .Personally I would recommend the Bev Air unit over a True. Both are good but I like little things about the bevair better.. I also have a Beverage Air unit. Only negative would be if this is going in your living space. Can be a little noisy over a residential unit.Expect to spend roughly $1,400-$1,600 for a Bev air when you add in all the other components it doesn't come with. Unless you convert to a double faucet unit then your going even higher.
Oh and its spelled Kegerator..

Get perlick faucets anyways.. worth the expense, regardless of what unit you get.
