You have no fear of the unknown. Neither do I. Prost!
Trying to remember where I saw it, if I do I’ll ship it to you, and you have to post a real video of you drinking it.
I don't do videos, but I'll take plenty of pics, and post an actual review! it might be the ultimate tick!
We kind of got off track for the thread's topic, so to close this tangent since I have you all on edge waiting for the facts, here's what I found on Wikipedia:
Billy Beer. It was promoted by Billy Carter, whose older brother Jimmy was the incumbent President of the United States. In October 1978, Falls City announced that it was closing its doors after less than a year of Carter's promotion. The beer was produced by Cold Spring Brewing, West End Brewing, and Pearl Brewing Company .
Of additional interest, there is a brewery, Uptown Brewing in Greenville, NC, that is producing a BILLY BEER today for anyone who wants to drink a fresh one: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/48367/ The brewery's website lists a registered trademark symbol next to the BILLY BEER name, and the cans in the graphics look similar to but somewhat different from the original can design. (On the bottom of the Billy Beer page.) http://www.uptownbrewingcompany.com/
But don't be fooled. If you look closely at the signature in the lower section of the can's label (where Billy Carter's signature was found) you'll see that the signature is Billy Dunn. So it's not the real thing. Here's where they tell the story: https://billybeer.com/knowbilly
(This 'knock-off' has no BA rating yet.)
In the spirit of beverage science I am contemplating sending my relic to your door. I'll sleep on it.....
Guy I know has a can of Ranier that is about 40-45 years old. Been telling him, I won't damage the can, I only care about the contents. So far, no-go.
You may deserve the can of Billy. But I think the contents may have been reconfigured or reincarnated to Guillame Biere, or WD-30. Hmmmmm.
Yeah, a light beer. Would BC have approved of that?
Have you seen my avatar? I don't care if I miss the Current Hot Thing. But a chance at a 40+ year old beer, that was likely crap to begin with? Yeah, that Sirens Song is, indeed, strong.
The session must be taped/recorded/available for view, for the masses. If yes, OK I'll send it along. Message me if need be.
I really, truly am opposed to being photographed. Video is certainly not an option. However, for science, I am willing to be semi-pictured (gonna hide my ugly grill as much as possible), and have witnesses whilst drinking, and post the stills as I do beer pics here, via Imgur. The thread of your choosing.
I’m on the hunt then, just have to retrace my steps.
As we often say in the NW forum: "For Science!". I'm a gamer, just have personal rules about being photographed.
As if y'all didn't already know, I'm a bit of an odd duck.
If I can find it, you have to drink the whole thing no matter how shitty. I’m hunting it down tomorrow, actually there was 3-4 on the shelf. Wish I had a better memory it would save a lot of hassle. But it sounds like fun, if I find them I’ll send you 2, one to tick, one to save on your shelf.
I'm a gamer!
I sometimes torture my friends by going to the local European Market and buying plastic quarts of crappy Russian beer for bottle shares/cookouts. They drain pour, I finish!
Me and the wifey are out looking tomorrow, might be a great nbs entry. I’ll pm you if I find it.
You're not D. B. Cooper, are you?
Nope, too young. (It's not often I get to say that.....)
Oregon Ducks meet the Washington Odd Ducks!
Not the lowest rated, but I remember when this was released and the utter disappointment everyone had with it.
Used to drink the Hell outta this one when I was younger, had it a couple years ago and it's just terrible.
I live in town and I would consider drinking it
It's bad but not EPIC bad!
I had a full can of a German import in my bottle/collection which was a pilsener in a steel can, probably from the 60s. I was concerned about the age of the can and corrosion/rust possibly causing a leak and a mess, so I decided to empty it by drilling a couple of small holes in the bottom. I drank probably a half ounce without any ill effects. It didn't taste bad at all, just kind of a neutral-flavored beer.
Here ya go.
You might want antacids, a barf bag, a Dr on call, it’s xtra aged probably 43 years at least, it’s dusty but not rusted, so it probably won’t kill you. NBS would be a hoot, I have your address from the BIF, and I’ll send a decent beer with it to wash the bad taste away.
Christmas comes early!!!!!!
Anything from Minhas Brewing from Trader Joe's. Does Boatswain or Simpler Times ring a bell? These are the worst beers. I don't know who they are geared for but yes, I'm sure people buy them up.
Maybe not EPIC bad, but it's current low score equates to awful.
Eh, the HLV ain't bad. Decent budget brew.
Holy Hell that was a ride through the Paint Thinner, Windex, Nail Polish Remover flavored Funny pages!!
These two are particularly poorly rated - with enough qualifying ratings - for beers that typically are rated well on this site:
Do they have a liquor license? (Not a cop, but I play one on BA. )
The lowest rated beers that qualifies (>10 ratings):
1.19 - #47,748
1.22 - #47,394
1.32 - #47,717
The lowest ranked beers I could find (more ratings help these beers get further "down" this list):
#47,852 - Keystone Light
#47,853 - Natural Ice
#47,854 - MGD 64
#47,855 - Keystone Ice
#47,856 - Bud Select 55
#47,857 - Natty Light
For a long time Cave Creek and White Moose held the bottom spots. I believe a few malt liquors (like Evil Eyez) were also in contention. B-to-the-E as well.
It’s a consignment shop , lol and $8 a can.
Thank you, sir! That there is a "/thread" for sure.
That Boatswain IIPA is an epic fail.https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/435/88082/?ba=mudbug#review
