    I choose DIPA, however this is like comparing apples and oranges.

    You really can't compare an IPA that's 5% abv to a DIPA that's 9.2% abv. The complexity is so much different in most DIPAs, and that's why I went with that.

    Having said all of that, I also enjoy regular American IPAs nearly the same.

    I would say that instead of American you should have East and West coast styles. I know that can get into a ridiculous style debate but West and East are good catch-alls.
    West = piney, herbal, very bitter
    East = fruity, tropical, floral

    I don't care if it's a double or a single IPA, as long as it has plenty of those "nouveau hop" varietals like Citra, HBC342 or a bunch of the New Zealand kinds. Zombie Dust, Lagunitas SUCKS, Pipeworks Citra Ninja, etc.

    Not sure I understand. So Sculpin is East or West? It's the most tropical and floral one I drink regularly.

    Sculpin I think is more East-coast, but it does have more bitterness than others.

    American IPA and DIPA are very close for me, but I drink IPAs more regularly so I voted that way. West vs East is pretty 50/50 for me, I love them both.

    In third comes Rye IPA.

    That is not classically how East Coast vs. West Coast was (is) defined. An East Coast type of American style IPA is typically a balanced IPA where both malt flavors and hop flavors are featured; for example Victory Hop Devil IPA. A West Coast type of American style IPA is hop forward with just a bit of malt backbone evident. Where the beer is brewed is less relevant here. For example, Ithaca Flower Power is brewed in NY but it is very much a West Coast type American style IPA.

    Cheers!

    7-8% abv usually seems to be my sweet spot with IPAs/DIPAs, whether they be English or American in nature. Something about the malt heft, bitterness, yeast signature, and ability to support a powerful hop aroma/flavor. I guess that's kind of an in-between gravity, but I voted for DIPAs out of those choices given.

    Black ipa. I love the combination of hoppy flavors and dark roasted malts.

    Red IPA.

    Something about deep caramel malt sweetness accented by citric hops equals: Thank you sir, may I have another?

    I'm tempted to say all, but I can't really recall any white IPAs that I've had, and red/rye IPAs would be closer to the bottom of the list. So... all of the rest of them :wink: As stated above, it's hard to compare a standard IPA to a DIPA. They each have their time and place with me and I enjoy them whenever I'm in the mood.

    I think you should add an "all" or "no preference" option to the poll because I like all kinds of IPAs and will grab what ever I happen to be in the mood for
