This is interesting to me as a new BA (just over 20 beers rated so far). One of my early impressions has been that the BA ratings seem a bit high overall. As a teacher I tend to think of it the same as grade inflation... and I am not an easy grader in my classes, but I am a fair one. Also, I have had lots of beers in my life - I'm new to BA but not to beer - and I tend to avoid stuff that I would be likely to give a low rating (i.e. I drink more of what I like, duh, but also am glad to try something new). With that in mind... my median is 3.52.

 

And, FWIW, my average is 3.68.

I don't think median ratings have any great statistical significance, most of us pick beers we are confident will be above average anyway.

That said though my rated beers on here (197) is not a full/current list, I bet if I pulled stats from untappd it would trend a bit lower.

This I figured out. and yeah Mine is high as well. 3.89.

 

4.08 for me. I think I tended to rate beers higher when I was new to BA for some reason (probably ignorance) so that probably skewed the overall result

 

3.94 median with a -1.1% median Rdev.

 

4.03 for Racer X, but as said above, I generally don't drink beers that I don't expect to be good, and I don't think putting a review for Miller Lite, et al, is even worth my time.

 

3.75 for 1589 beers.

Too high in my opinion. Assuming 3.0 is average.
