there was a “problem” with dinner so now we are patiently waiting for delivery.

I enjoyed my pour of whither at the brewery so I picked up a 4pk to go. Super tasty, up there with the best helles I’ve had. (American helles only, traditionalists please don’t drag me!)

of course. Guinness is ~4%. Plenty of "old school" craft stouts like Sierra Nevada or Anderson Valley clock in <6%.

I generally like my stouts on the lower side, up to around 7ish %. Tree House DS started losing the plot for me when they began to creep up over 8%.

wow probably been 10+ years since I've had that. One of the earliest craft beers I geeked out on, maybe '05 or '06.

I had two more of Vermont Beer Makers' Year One tonight... will say lot of yeast when I rinse out the can, but none made it to my pours. But I really, really like this beer. Maybe Nelson hops are great this year? TH's In Perp also stood out recently. In this one, I pick up mostly Nelson and Centennial. Very strong nose on this one and the flavor is vinous grapes and a bit of pine.

Probably should have used a clean glass huh? No matter, still delicious.

Bit of a bummer today, the brewery I tend at got robbed either last night or early today. Fuckers took the safe (how the hell they got that, I don’t know) and the cash drawer. Another damned obstacle for them to overcome, I really feel for them. Hopefully insurance does it’s thing and whoever these skels are get caught.

Fantastic DIPA here. Really digging the soft mango, tangerine and nectarine taste. Smooth, subtle malt, I like it.

Yeah back when being able to brew some high quality Belgian-style beers meant something. Some of the first similar beers to get me hooked in college would have been Unibroue's Maudite and Trois Pistoles, probably in 2000 or 2001.

Still weird seeing Ommegang beers in cans instead of bottles.

Belgian style beers were what got me into craft and Gulden Draak was my gateway beer.

Ommegang was the first destination brewery I ever went to. I'm not into sports at all, and had no idea the baseball hall of fame was in Cooperstown. I had to tell more than one person that I'm just here for the beer. I have some great memories of drinking Gnomegang, Hennepin, and of course Three Philosophers.

I was ON the Cape this weekend with family and friends, one of whom brought along some Tree House (said Sandwich pickup is very easy) and here is my hot take: I like the Julius beers better than anything else they do (though I split Autumn, which was a delight). I also enjoyed the Vienna Lager. The big stouts are way too much for me. One sip, hand to someone else.

Tributary Oyster Stout was my taste this weekend on a rainy Sunday night. Lotta Bitburger festbier, too, but that aint New England.

So can I expect to find many wet/fresh hop beers in the Boston area? I’ve had Lamplighter’s but that’s it. Of course I’ll buy a ton of Celebration when available (my fav IPA), but would love to try some local ones if they are available.

Maybe I haven't been looking in the right places but in the past year or two, fresh/wet hop beers (ones touted as such) have seemed to be less prominent compared to years prior. Not sure if others feel the same way.

I’ve never had this one before at least as far as I can remember. It’s OK. It’s your typical heavily hopped New England IPA.

Too lazy for a photo (it's a hazy mess anyway), but drinking a Lush from Frost Beer Works in Hinesburg, VT. If they are cool enough to name a beer after me, I should have one occasionally, plus it's damn good...

Another "classic American take on Belgian style" revisited. I was never a big Golden Monkey fan as I always thought it was too sweet. I hadnt drank one in years until recently. I've read that Victory had probably reworked the recipe, seems like maybe its true, seems more balanced now. Of all the many, many negative things that ABV has done since buying out Victory, maybe this is a positive.

I’m not gonna lie, I had big expectations for this one, and based off color and smell, they’re certainly met. Whoa. Big time nelson here. White wine, grape, mango peel. Pretty soft, very good, happy to have found a few cans around me.

From last night. I met some friends at Sloop, and didn't want to be the guy on his phone posting pictures of beer.

Nectaron Bomb - I really liked this and it drank well for a 6.5%. it was very dank and pithy, but had some really nice citrus notes.

Cloud Jumper - typical sloop stuff.
