One of my favorite seasonal releases from Jacks Abby.

 

East End Brewing - Gratitude Barleywine. This is my first taste of standard Gratitude, I've had the scotch barrel aged one previously. Really nice. Leathery, dark fruits, a little bit of sweetness on the end. Really nice Barleywine.

 

Family Fridge Sunday concludes. Nice trio of lager, ipa, and stout.

Teotihuacan - Barreled Souls



Leaves a thick webbing of lace and a thin film with no legs.

Dark roasted chocolate mole with char roasted malt is exquisitely balanced by the habanero pepper. So simple, so well crafted with a clear distinction between the elements that lets the brain blend them together after each sip.

The flavor is filled with dark chocolate and charred malt. Nothing is overdone here, not sweet, not bitter, not hot, just all dancing together. The finish is long and blunt, fading ever so gradually.

Creamy smooth and dense. This bottle is labeled at 13.2%. The alcohol and the pepper blend a nice warm heat that clings to the tongue, cheeks, and throat. Soft carbonation tingles.

This is the perfect accompaniment to the book I am reading, Under the Volcano - Malcolm Lowry. The Mexican theme, the high alcohol, the fine craftsmanship. The rest of the bottle is destined to pair with a smoked burger and Gorgonzola. IF I can hold out that long.

Had a can of this a couple months ago that I was whatever about, but this is awesome right now.

Wish me luck, dropped the entire 4 pack on the garage floor hauling in presents and just dropped it again while fumbling around with an Xbox controller.

 

Oh shit! Then I must have another in the fridge. I completely forgot about that.

 

I liked because I opened one of my only two cans of a Fox Farm Baltic porter on Thursday night and it slipped out of my hand and it hit the floor. Probably lost about half the can. It was delicious, I was pissed haha.

 

The old-ass reptile part of my brain seriously said “DROP PRESENTS SAVE BEER”. Oh man. Substance is hitting the spot. Can’t wait for some vacation time to close out 2022.

Excellent lager. Perfect for a grey humid cold day.

 

This particular Monday calls for an early week beer. Trying this black IPA that I think is my first beer from these guys.

 

Still got a few Marzens kicking around courtesy of @alexsergio and after a big bowl of chili, seemed appropriate. Brisk by TH and honestly, this is a great beer. Perfect amount of malt, oak, bread and crisp. One of the best Marzens I’ve had.

 

Came across Substance at my local beer store, so obviously I picked up a four pack!

 

Another excellent example of the style. A little dryer than the first one but…perfect for the cold weather.

 

Didn't get a chance to post last night, but drank some local beers at the Open Mic Night at my wife's (BYOB) cafe. Played some songs with a couple friends, and also as usual enjoyed listening to some other local musicians playing their original tunes.

 

Right now drinking my last can of Heady Topper that I brought back from Vermont. But it (and Focal Banger) also show up here in the Philly area on a fairly regular basis.

Making a salad and barbecuing some chicken…seemed like the perfect beer.

 

One of my favorite beers there are with one of the most beautiful hip-hop songs ever made.

 

Closing out already because I stupidly agreed to go in early tomorrow. Somehow at two months old this is still delicious. Night, all.

New Trail Brewing (Williamsport, PA) - Sticky. Brewed with Coffee, Maple Syrup, Cinnamon, and Vanilla. All those flavors come through. Fairly sweet, full bodied, sticky mouthfeel.
