Stepping out of our region for a Christmas present. Gotta do overnights the next 2 nights so I wanted to enjoy one tonight. Man, so smooth, subtle barrel, licorice chocolate. Still one of the best. Might not be able to post so Happy New Year’s to you and yours.

Stopped at Forest & Main to pick up some cans, so had to get a quick pint of one of their cask beers from the hand pump.

Stone Flower, described as a Pub Ale brewed with 100% Munich Malt.

Oops, I forgot to share this with my buddies over here in the NE. We’re havin a mellow day.

    Coconut Phones - Barreled Souls

WOW! The room darkened when this beer was poured. A razor thin golden-brown halo is the only light that passes. The coconut and cinnamon are very nicely integrated into the base stout. Everything has a toasted flavor, with the malt being the sole charred element. Black coffee is a base tone, ever president, never forefront. Bitterness is 2-1 over sweetness. Dense body, not syrupy. Alcohol has a light and pleasant burn, just short of distracting. The base stout sings boldly. The adjuncts add depth like the E Street Band to Springsteen’s distinctive vocals.

Not the best song pairing, but heck, it’s DEFINITELY one of Springsteen’s best. There are better live versions too. Like this one!

I spent an hour listening to different versions of this same song.
