I'm going to be in Alpharetta at the end of the month for work. I'm coming down from NC and will be there for 2-3 days. Any beers I should be on the look out for? And places with a great tap list to have dinner at?

    Thanks!

No restaurants with great tap lists. Some Taco Macs are probably the best. You need to head to decatur and places of that nature for good restaurant tap lists.

Taco Mac has a decent selection but is overpriced some times. If you can swing to downtown Atlanta I'd recommend visiting Sweetwater brewery for a good time and a couple of samples--there's always people there. I agree with gdodd12 that Decatur has the best tap list--though places in Downtown Roswell have good tap lists and excellent restaurants as well.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'll have to just suck it up and actually work on this trip.

Slate has a decent tap list. What other place in historic roswell has good tap lists? I have eaten at pretty much every restaurant down there.

Salt has an extended bottle list and Roux usually has a good beer or two on tap.

Best combination of beer and food is 5 Seasons North, IMO.

If you are looking for production brewery beers instead of a brewpub, Taco Mac locations are really the only option up here. The one near 5 Seasons North on Old Milton is mediocre at best even for a Taco Mac. Depending on where exactly in Alpharetta you are, the Johns Creek, Windward, Crabapple, or Duluth stores might not be much of a drive. Windward is the weakest of that bunch with Crabapple being the best.

Depending on when the "end of the month" is, you might be able to make it to an Ale Alpharetta meeting at 5 Seasons North. A few of us that live in Alpharetta and surrounding areas will be there at 7:30 pm on the 21st for a monthly bottle share. I doubt that is what you meant by end of the month, but thought I would mention it just in case.

One or two beers on tap isn't a good tap list, IMO. Sadly most of the great restaurants down there have pretty poor beer selections. Slate is by far the best.

I agree, just trying to be helpful. I need to try Slate.

No worries. I was really asking because I was hoping I missed something down there. I have been to most of the restaurants there and I have always been disappointed that they have embraced craft beer more. Seems like a great place to do that. Maybe they figure its mostly wine and hard liquor drinkers that eat there.

I agree, wine and liqour seem to win out there...though Roux does have a bottle of Pliny on the top shelf of of the bar on display, I thought that was funny. I need to head to Hop City out in Marietta--only have heard good things about it.

At least Ale Yeah will be opening up down the street from there in a few weeks. That is a very nice addition to the Roswell beer scene.

If you do make it to Alpharetta and stop by 5 North make sure and say hello. I'm Crawford, the brewer guy. If you give me some heads up I might be able to pull something out of the cellar.

Sounds good to me. I'll be there two nights, and I'm not sure if I have dinner commitments or not. I'll drop you a BM as this trip gets closer, but you guys have some great looking beers.

Hop City is in downtown ATL, not in Marietta... It's on Marietta St, however.
