I drank a lot of new to me beers this year, but down in memphis, I'm very glad I discovered Wiseacre Brewing. Great lagers and more. If you ever see Tiny Bomb Pilsner by them, give it a shot.

According to my reviews, my favorite six beers that I had for the first time in 2022 are:
    Russian River: Pliny the Younger
    HenHouse Brewing: Anniversary Imperial Stout
Sante Adairius: Cellarman Barrel Aged Saison
    Deadbeach Brewery: Heaven Hill Stout
Brouwerij 3 Fontinen: Oude Geuze Cuvee Armand & Gaston

I am glad to read that an older and very respectable brewer like North Coast with such a small portfolio beers--many of which hit it out of the park like Old Rasputin and Old Stock Ale--can come up with a completely new West Coast IPA that, in an overcrowded market, stands out.

Beginning of every year, I put 3 bottles (or cans.,.) on top of the fridge & dare all others to take them down - an IPA or Light Beer., a Barleywine or Belgian, and a dark Porter or Stout.
It always helps if there’s a story to accompany.,,

So.,. I ended up with these winners:
Light is Russian River Pliny the Elder (10 yrs since I had 1, the origin of all the DIPAs I Love - got it 3 weeks old on a trip to Portland. Envy from my Florida friends who can’t get it!)
Middle is Kane Double Double Cask Barleywine (From the Awesome BA Extreme Beer Box. Just so damn big and good!)
Dark is Epic Brewing’s Big Bad Baptist In The Rye (Gifted from the Brewery in Salt Lake City via my bro-in- law, bottle #42. Beautiful beer.,)

I could list stuff all day, but there’s my big little 3.,
    Yes?

I didn’t drink a lot for most of 22 because my wife was pregnant and I was trying to show solidarity with her. Once my daughter came it was game on though.

To be honest my favorite was Blue Mountain Full Nelson. Why? My local Wally World has a pricing error, 1.98 for a sixer. It’s been that way for months and they haven’t fixed it, so naturally I buy several sixers every time they get some in stock

I would say my favorite "New to me beer" as in it just became available around here would be the new Chimay Green strong golden ale.
That stuff is just on point and delicious!
    I'm a sucker for Belgians.
Runner up: Allagash Curieux, not a new beer, but first time I had one.
For the Silver I'd say Great Lakes Nosferatu Imperial Red ale. That stuff is my kind of ale. Again, not new but new to me.

The best of the new tastings for 2022 (that cracked my personal top 100)

Gouden Carolus Noel - Brouwerij Het Anker (4.58)
Bring Out Your Dead X (Cognac) - Bellwoods Brewery (4.55)
Origin of Darkness - Bellwoods Collab - Collective Arts Brewing (4.54)
    Gueuze 100% Lambic - Brasserie Cantillon (4.49) - what a treat for a 2,500th review!
Nelly - Badlands Brewing Company (4.4)
Origin of Darkness - Burial Collab - Collective Arts Brewing (4.38)
Skeleton Key - Bellwoods Brewery (4.34)
Can I Axe You a Question - Wood Brothers Brewing Co. (4.33)
    150 (Green) - Bieres de Chimay (4.33)

So 4 local imperial stouts, 2 local IPA / DIPA and 3 very reputable Belgian brews / brewers.

Edit - Also seeing lots of Tynt Meadow in the thread. I tried it as well, didn't make my top 100, but was sampled first in 2022 and excellent brew (4.2)!

We just got back from Denver, visiting my son out there.

This may seem comical, but three of my favorite beers this year were from Trader Joe's, all brewed by Gordon Biersch in San Jose. They were: Stockyard Stout, Bavarian Hefeweizen, and Drive Thru Red, all sold under the "JosephsBrau" label.

They were available separately for just over $1 a bottle (!!). Perhaps not among the very finest beers in each one's genre, but very good nonetheless.

I'm from PA, and Trade Joes does not carry beer here. So this was a revelation, given the absurdity of PA beer pricing and sales regulations.

Depends on how I look it...

Notch Brewing's Kolsch style beer was a beer I enjoyed a lot and could drink as a regular. Close behind is Schilling Alexandr Czech Pils and Jack's Abby Export. All could be everyday drinkers for me.

Allagash Coolship Cerise Estate - truly a mountaintop beer but probably won't find it again, so a great one time experience.

Brewery discoveries - OEC and Schilling, and our first ever haul from Tree House (yeah, a little slow on that one). Rediscovery of Oxbow, the progress/evolution of Definitive and Foundation.

Highest score was Surly Darkness and the previously mentioned Allagash tied. A bit of a surprise there, but Surly maybe got the technical execution while Allagash won the flavor and overall.

Most fun to drink - Mortalis Hydra Melted Gelato. Hands down.

Favorite "in the moment" beer - Foundation Robocat...just the right combo of place and events and beer that I kinda wish I had bought fewer of...
