So far I have Westy 12, Chimay Blue, Rochefot 10 and St. Barnabas Abt. 12. I want to see once and for all, which Quad/BSDA reigns supreme. I would love to have an offering from each of the remaining Trappist Breweries, but I know not all of them make a quad or bsda (I don't think??). Of course, I am willing to include non-trappist brews as well, hence the St. Barnabas.

Let me know what your suggestions are!

    Thanks in advance.

I would throw in 6th Glass from Boulevard. Gets distributed to MA and I think it is really good but I have never put it up against the big names that you have listed.

Is there still any Pretty Things Baby Tree on the shelves this time of year? It might be cool to have a local(ish) curveball thrown in there.

throw in dark truth stout from boulevard. with the malts they use and the belgian yeasts it feels more like a quad than the sixth glass does. well, for me anyway.

Another Trappist you may be able to find is the La Trappe Quadrupel (which is the only one actually named "Quadrupel."). Also, if you can find them, St. Amatus 12 from De Struise, and Pannepot Reserva, also from De Struise.

Yeah, La Trppe should definitely be included in this. Thank you for the reminder.

Unibroue La Terrible would be a nice addition.

6th Glass is pretty darn different from the beers listed. Much spicier and more bitter, and will stand out against the others (not in a good way.) At least that's what we thought when we had it side-by-side with Rochefort, St. Bernadus and Pannepot.

Good to know, I have only had it on its own and never compared side by side. Also, both times I have had it have been with about 1 year of age on it so that might have toned down the spiciness and bitterness.

pannepot old fisherman's, the reserva, and the old monk's came immediately to mind, followed by the la trappe quad and their oak aged quad version. as for american takes on the style there aren't too many that can measure up to their belgian counterparts IMO but i would possibly include allagash four and/or odyssey.

edit: malheur 12 and urthel samaranth are a couple more quads worthy of consideration.

Did you mean St. Bernardus Abt 12 or is there a beer named St. Barnabus? If there is than I would suggest St. Bernardus Abt 12.
