Despite how my post came across, I am not religious or obsessed, nor refuse to drink IPA's that are only a couple weeks old. I do prefer fresh, as opposed to aged, and I typically don't buy more IPA's than I can drink within a couple days for that reason, which is why I typically have no IPA's on hand.

To answer your question though, the short answer is quite simply that I enjoy the aroma and taste of a fresh IPA. Does that mean that an older IPA can't be enjoyable? Of course not. But if I have a choice between really good and not quite as really good, I'll most likely choose the former. I'm not so picky about DIPAs because I actually appreciate a maltier, highter ABV DIPA as well as a hop forward one.

I have my own opinion and preferences, and while I will state them, I am actually a firm believer that taste is 100% subjective, that my opinion is nothing more than an opinion and that every person is entitled to their own opinion. So, you won't see me on the front lines, getting all hot and bothered that everyone doesn't share my same opinion.

    Cheers.

Right now in the realm of IPAs I have

    1x 2nd Shift Brew Cocky
    3x Green Flash Palate Wrecker
    1x Sierra Nevada Hoptimum
    3x Heavy Seas Loose Cannon
    2x Bell's Hopslam

I don't really keep too many varieties of IPAs on hand - I tend to buy them in four/six packs as opposed to singles of other types of beer, and I also tend to keep them rotating fairly quickly.

What timing, just poured the last of a growler of Finest Kind, in the fridge is a six of fresh Flower Power, on deck in cellar are a case and a half of homebrewed Blind Zombie (theoretical IBUS over 1000), still have 3 bombers of Hop Psychotic Batch 5, and some PTE coming in a trade. Guess I am pretty set hopwise also

Drinking Outrage IPA from Crossroads Brewery right now. In my fridge I have 4 KBS stashed away and two 22 ounce bottles of DFH Faithful. Oh yeah and I have a couple cans of Rheingold that have been in there for like five years now. I give those out to relatives I don't like.
