Just wondering what some trades have been for fantome extra sour, very interested but dont wanna give up everything for just that bottle when I dont get all that much to begin with
fear025 was kind enough to open one at his wedding last summer. I was really excited for it, but only thing it had extra of was musty flavor. Typical Fantome bottle variation. Don't trade the farm, it could well be a dud.
It's probably my favorite Fantome to date. I think it is tart/"extra sour" relative to most fresh Fantomes.
I like that when this beer came out all of a sudden there were a ton of monocle wearing saison experts, complaining about tartness, the same dudes who just finished their PhDs in barleywines after tasting King Henry for the first time and loving those chocolate and roast notes in their english barleywines. I traded a t25 for one.
I thought it was a great brew, I traded Murda'd Out Stout and Black Note 750ml + for it a few times. First bottle was my favorite sour saison since Mimosa, just incredible. Second bottle was really, really musty and not tart at all, overall a really big disappointment. I've got one last bottle so we'll see how it goes.
Seems like there is a decent amount of bottle variation, I had one that was amazing, the second was just a decent Fantome saison, not out of this world.
