nice didn't see that be great to have pseudo any time
Heard today they are trying for August
that's not YankeeWine like the store is it?
Yes sir like the store in Newtown CT
haha nice I stop in there usually once a week was trying to find some Allagash Pick your Own last week but you guys were out. Great store
Thank you also got more Pick your own in Friday about a case left
July 17th is the tentative date, per our Star manager, fingers crossed. I thiiiiink Clark (owner, TG) is going to be in the state this week or next week, so I'll try to get the scoop from him.
Allagash's Pick Your Own and Two Lights (Nelson-hopped, w/ s. blanc grape must) are now available in most of the state this week. The few stores that get Fat Orange Cat are seeing decent-sized drops of Someone in My Head this week too!
This week's Kent Falls- Glitter Rainbow & Haircuts for Everybody. Next week will be Super Sparkle and Danny Boy, a hoppy German-style pilsner.
Any update on TG?
I'm not sure about stuff hitting the shelves but there's a draft launch in New Haven on Monday.
none posted on beermenus yet
Just spoke with a couple different store managers.....
Hitting this week, not sure what day. My local here in West Haven said to call him tomorrow.
Sue, Pompei, Dorothy's, Golden Nugget (from what I remember)
Fire, Skulls and Money is listed but doubt that will show up in the first run.
Which bar in new haven is doing the TG launch?
Prime 16 and Elm City Social.
Tomorrow you will start seeing
Fire, Skulls & Money, Dorthy, Sue, Golden Nugget, Pompeii
Gonna be hitting some stores in CT Sunday; what are some CT breweries I need to be on the lookout for on the shelves? NY doesn't get much from you guys save Kent Falls and recently Fat Orange Cat, so any input would be helpful.
Counterweight and Armada IMO
Banded Brewing is now available in CT... just got notified they dropped today.
Banded Brewing Veridian IPA 4pk 16oz Cans
Banded Brewing Daikaiju IIPA 4pk 16oz Cans
Banded Brewing Alternate Rhizomes Sour Ale 4pk 16oz Cans
Banded Brewing Green Warden Pale Ale 4pk 16oz Cans
Banded Brewing Graves Gold Ale 4pk 16oz Cans
Oooo nice! Didn't expect CW to be in stores. Will check out Armada.
Just dropped in to say that it is actually "Banded Horn Brewing" from Biddeford, ME. Some of the brewery staff was down in CT this past weekend to brew, release collabs, and tour breweries. I caught them at OEC on Friday afternoon right before they took a tour of the facility.
EDIT: I guess it is just "Banded Brewing" now. Wonder what accounts for the name change.
A lot of CT breweries dont distribute much to stores. Where in CT are you gonna be. Hitting a brewery may get you the most interesting options as even counterweight only distributes some of their lineup.
Hooker but only if you can find #NoFilter, Ode to Blumpy or Super Duper Citra.
Most of the limited Relic IPAs are good.
The Armada and CT Valley IPAs are pretty solid but not cheap.
Fresh sixer of Sea Hag always hits the spot too. Or Headway. Counterweight doesn't distribute much more than Headway to stores.
CW has Workhorse in distro too
Confirmed these are now available in SE CT.
Exactly Headway and limited Workhorse as far as I have seen. Am I missing anything? Their predominant taproom releases work so well for me.
ISO Exactly Headway
So excited to see Toppling Goliath in CT!
- said everyone the first week and then like Bell's, New Belgium, Firestone Walker, etc., no one will buy on a regular basis.*
*except they'll want the rare stuff.
Picked up psuedu sue and fire, skulls, and money today. Sue was only 11 for the 4 pack, great price!
Counterweight (Headway) is easy to find in CT and priced right for an IPA I can get a 4 pack for $10.49 or $10.99 depending which store i hit up.
I'll be on the lookout for that for sure.
You guys get distro from any MA breweries? Lamplighter, Exhibit A, Mystic, Castle Island, etc?
We wish. I occasionally make the 45 min drive from central CT to Yankee Sturbridge, that store is phenomenal.
Yeah I spend way more than I'm trying to every time I'm there.
Great bags of popcorn too!
I dunno, Pseudo Sue is a fabulous pale ale priced good enough to throw in the rotation
I tried Sue, Pompeii, and Golden Nugget. I thought Pompeii was the best of the 3 and will purchase again. I'm also really enjoying Two Hearted, nice it's always available.
Has anyone seen this year's Stone W00tstout anywhere in CT?
I grabbed some in SE CT probably 2 weeks ago.
So I stopped at Harvest Wine & Spirits when I was in CT, brought a 4-pack of Counterweight Headway to the counter to ask price -- which I HATE doing but none of the non-cooler stock was priced but I'll rant on that another time -- and I literally laughed when the guy told me how much.
I haven't seen a $10 4-pack of a good IPA in New York maybe ever. Only thing that cheap are Jack's Abby Lagers, everything else STARTS at $12-14 but is more likely $16-20.
Anyway, this beer is damn fantastic. So nicely balanced.
Yes, that Headway price is the best bang for your buck in CT right now. I do wish Harvest priced things more often but I feel like they don't because most of the product, especially IPAs, is in the store and then goes right out of the store.
Headway for $10 a 4 pack of 16 ounces and sea had 12 oz 6 packs for $9.99 are fantastic and great priced local options. CT bev mart on the turnpike was selling cases of hag for $35.99.
I get what you're saying but I can't give a pass for that. I have local stores near me that move WAY more product but price 90-95% of things. Either sticker gun a can on every pack or, even easier, make a sign above the display.
Oh yeah, I know, I'm just being nice because they're my favorite store. Back when Sip of Sunshine was still a hot commodity they would just stack the cases in the cooler and you could walk in and grab them. Never had to deal with any of the kind of BS other stores in CT had with that beer.
It is definitely a little inconvenient to try and figure out in my head what things might cost. A sticker gun would be nice and easy. I only ask once in awhile about pricing.
