I was at Shaw's this morning and I checked out the date on a sixer of Brooklyn East India Pale Ale. Best by September 2010 on the bottles. Yikes.

I saw the San Diego County Session Ale on the shelf somewhere, unrefrigerated, a few months ago.

I have seen Smutty Big A over a year expired, and for a IIPA that is like way, way expired. That's 119 to you and me.

Accidentally bought some 5-6yr old Old Vermonster from TOPS liquor here in Arizona. The date was on the bottom, which isn't very common.

I just saw a Seadog Apricot the other day that had a massive amount of dust on it. I picked it up and it said best by May 09 on it. Wow

A two year old set of GUBNA cans I once made a thread about.

Still tempted to see how awful it potentially is.

In about 2006, while working for a wholesaler in metro Detroit, I found 1 single bottle in a cooler rack of Stroh's Signature. There was no date on it, but I believe it was discontinued in the 80s, as the brewery in Detroit closed in 1985... I bought it cuz it's cool

I found a six pack of dust covered Grant's IPA and another of Stoney Creek Lager (defunct). I think Grant's has been closed since 2005.

Over easter, I saw some Unibroue Ephemera that was "Best By 2008". Sadly, it wasn't at Beers of the World.

Bought a 2010 Jolly Pumpkin Weizenbam this month on a trip into Michigan at Siciliano's. Never even crossed my mind to check the date until I got home. Was still good at least.

Not expired per say but still old enough I would had probably passed had I noticed before buying.

Saw a lonely single of Dogfish Head 60 Minute with a best-by date in early '09 sitting on the mix-a-six rack of a local ABC that I only use as a source for ageable CCB beers as they seem to languish on the shelf there. Picked up a '10 Big Sound from there last month actually, delicious! I wouldn't dare buy anything undated and not ageable there though.

Well I doubt it counts as expired, since it's a barleywine, but the oldest beer I've bought and enjoyed straight from the shelf was a 4 year old bottle (2008) of Stone Old Guardian. I had my doubts since it was just sitting there on a shelf room temp on the rack closest to the window, but it was still damn delicious.

I saw Gordon on the shelf a few weeks ago at a major retailer in Rochester, NY...to make things worse, they used a solution to erase the date on the bottom of the can to sell the beer. They had (5) four packs on the shelf and several of the beers in the rest of the store were marked way higher than what I could of purchased the same beer at Wegman's. I e-mailed them regarding the ancient product on the shelf and after two weeks with no response (and the brewer responded within 24 hours)...Greedy?

Just realized I had a six month old IPA. Wouldn't intentionally buy one that old, but turned out better than some freshness advocates would lead you too believe.
