Laying in bed this evening after enjoying a nice line-up of beers, it got me to wondering...What's the longest time it took you to decide what beer to drink? I opened my fridge tonite and it took me a good 3-5 minutes to decide what I wanted to crack open...I haven't drank a beer in 2 months due to a weight loss challenge at work...I've only been trading beers a collecting sweet extras...today was a cheat day and I was like fuck it, I'm having a beer...

    Cheers!

Well it all depends. If I am out at a bar/restaurant it could take me a bit before I order a beer. I usually go to places that have a long list of beers/taps. If I am at home and just want to grab a beer it may take a few minutes. If I am at work and know I will be going home I usually think ahead of time what I may want.

Days. I put bottles in the fridge, take them out, put them back in, it continues. Some beers are just so difficult to open.

One time it took me 2 hours to decide, but i was also going through everything in my cellar.

I do this as well. I try too hard sometimes with the line-up and marrying different styles. Then there's the "I'll wait a little longer for this one" excuse.

Usually a few minutes. I go back and forth sometimes between what's currently in my fridge and what's not. I usually know what style I have in mind though prior to choosing, so it makes it a little easier.

At a restaurant--maybe 10 minutes--At my place 3 minutes--I do not have that big a cellar so usually my options are limited but good.

I usually open my fridge about 5 times and go to and fro my beer cellar (read cupboard) at least 2 to 3 times when I drink alone. With friends or guests over, it is always pre decided what i am going to serve

Usually I have an idea of what I'm in the mood for before I even open the fridge. If I don't have one cold, I just don't have a beer that night. It also depends on what I'm having for dinner, as I really only drink beer with meals.

If you're going to the cellar and it might take you a while, the trick is to drink a beer while you're deciding what beer to drink. That way you can take your time.

Don't get high though. That makes it take forever, or at least seem like forever.

eventually you get hungry after spacing out at the pretty labels and go open a box of triscuts.

At the bar 10-15 minutes. At home. Not as long. Generally have my system set up for drinking in a certain order.

    Cheers!

At a bar/restaurant, probably about 15 minutes. At home, I'd say about 5 minutes.

Sometimes too long. A half hour or so. If i am driving home i start thinking then. I have been faced with this all week. With NN and Hopslam and Bigfoot in the fridge. I want to be in a perfect mood depending on which style i want to drink.

My biggest problem is waffling between "I really want to open this special beer finally" and "But I actually have a taste for this other beer." Whenever I go with the former, I almost always regret it. I've learned to go with the style/beer I'm actually craving, rather than just opening the beer that I've been anxious to open for a while. It's better to let that special beer sit for a few more days/weeks and open it once you're actually craving that style/beer.

My rule of thumb: Craving > Covet. But Covet + Craving = Awesome.

I do the same thing! I open my beer fridge and stare in their for about 5 minutes on average deciding what I want to drink. Of course there are no bad choices since I have about 200 bottles to choose from. I just like sharing so I usually wait to open bottles I've never had before with my brother and/or friends.
