I think it's the peanut butter flavoring/extract in particular to me. The beer has a real oily mouthfeel, didn't care for it

I read that first as Alf (rhymes with shelf) as opposed to (h)alf and thought it was a reference to the sitcom ALF. I was expecting it to be brewed with cats and dryer lint.

The worst beer I've ever had is [INSERT YOUR FAVORITE BEER HERE]. Tasted absolutely terrible. Total drain pour.

But for real, the worst beer I've ever had was Camo Black malt liquor. It was $1.50 for tall boy (24 oz) at a local liquor store down the street when I worked in Redlands. Tasted and smelled like liquified cigarette butts, green pepper, and had the consistency of a barleywine. Never again unless it's for a gag gift for a co-worker or something.

I have to partly agree here. If you are at all into curry, it smells incredible. Taste is pretty bad, mostly due to the hot peppers. I once found it on tap, and the guy said it hadn't sold well but thank god it was almost tapped out. After he saw I had finished the tap, he said he'd make me a deal on a crowler which he thought would run it out. Can't recall whether it took two or three crowlers to kill it, but I bought them all cheap. Huge mistake. First of all their crimper was not working well and they all seeped in the fridge. And - I had a major reflux reaction to the first one I had, could hardly lay down that night. Drain-poured the rest, will never have it again.

One of my very few drain pours was Sierra Nevada Otra Vez. It was unpleasantly sour, and there was "stuff" floating around in it - yes, I know it was supposed to be there - but it just caused a strong visceral response.

My worst is a tie between Founder's Better Half (nauseatinglly sweet, like drinking maple syrup soaked pancakes) and a two year old bottle of DFH 120 Minute (don't know if it was me or the beer, but it was God awful). The Better Half was dumped after 1/2 a glass. The ($10) bottle of 120 Minute after the second swallow.

:+1: I thought it tasted like lavender air freshener.

I've never seen that beer, and from the description sounds like it should be banned from further brewing. I thought Meijer's buyers had a bit more sense than to allow something like this in their inventory.

Two of my all time favorite beers. The DFH 120 is especially great, imo, at the 4 to 5 year mark. I love Better Half for the reasons it does not appeal to you. It’s crazy how we love or hate the same beers... that’s what makes drinking/sharing our thoughts fun here - Cheers!

I may have to change my answer. I just tried a new brew from Third Street called JHB. Legitimately had the aroma of lotion, and it's flavor profile was perfume and bar soap...

I think youbhit the nail on the head. The word “City” was def on the can. It was horrendous. I was living in PA at the time too. And absolutely it was less than $10 for a 30 rock. Beast Light (also horrendous) was $10 a 30 pack in college and so often our go to cause we were broke as shit, and I know this this shitty “City” beer was even cheaper!

    Good times! haha

Oh, I'm aware. Every super-fit wannabe cool person who wants to fit in with the gang by having a "beer" drinks that mess. Meanwhile, a perfectly good Topo Chico is sitting just off to the side not being drunk despite possessing much more overall quality and purpose.

I try very hard to be open-minded about all beer and to find something good in each one, but Michelob Ultra sucks and the people who drink it should stop. Order a shot of vodka and a Perrier instead and rid us of this blight on the beer landscape! :stuck_out_tongue:

So, according to my ratings, it's Mr. Stout by Mankato and I have to agree with that previous iteration of myself. I like some of Mankato's other brews, pretty much love a couple of them, and I generally like imperial stouts, but Mr. Stout is so boozy, solvent, harsh (did I mention molten-level burning booze?) and otherwise irredeemable that I had two swallows and drain-poured (which almost never happens).

I couldn't agree more; just pointing out that what a microcosm craft drinkers are.
Despite the fact that no one on BA would willingly drink this beer, Mich Ultra is on track to rake over $1.5 billion in 2019. While Yuengling, the largest "craft" brewery, made something like $250 million in 2018.

    According to my reviews this

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/105/1299/?ba=russpowell#review

Mich Ultra is right down there as well. Had a few wretched brew pub brews over the decades, nothing stands out. This was really the case in Oklahoma when everything was capped ABV-wise unless they sold it to brokers/wholesalers & then bought it back. Bricktown comes to mind for sure. I enjoyed all kinds of beer in the UK below 4.2%. I'm guessing cask conditioning was the difference

I'm always a bit puzzled by this sort of observation. It reminds me of the old joke/saying: "Eat shit! 300 billion flies can't be wrong!"

I'm happy for Inbev AB that the beer is such a big seller for them, but at least to me, in no way, shape, or form does popularity automatically equate to quality. Mich ultra is a particularly good example of that.

That beer was so bad I’m not sure how anyone could possibly know when it oxidizes or goes bad. It’s just freaking horrible to begin with, the thought it could get worse is a scary thought.

KBS from Founders was the last drain pour. It was the second time I've tried it, but it just not agree with my palette. I know, I know this stout gets glowing reviews but it must be the barrel aging, as I do enjoy a good stout. However this KBS isn't that stout.

That's crazy isn't it? Yuengling's standard lager is bursting with flavor IMO, while Ultra tastes worse than water.

What most frustrates me is how much I do appreciate a good "light" beer, especially a good session beer with a sub-4% ABV. If Ultra had just an ounce of decent barley malt in it, it might be palatable. Lone Star Light is fantastic by comparison. I wouldn't put it up against Atrial Rubicite or Rochefort 10, but you get what I'm saying.
