I like that Grimbergen. That and Leffe Brune are probably the best value for that style coming from Belgium. Both are a little lighter in ABV than the average dubbel.

I really like Rochefort 8 (much stronger at 9.2%) and Westmalle is good. I find St Bernardus extremely fizzy sometimes. That's to style, but last time I had it it was unpleasant. The two that've knocked my socks off recently are Unibroue's Maudite, and Charlevoix's Dominus Vobiscum (both Canadian).

My three favorite commercial Dubbels are Rochefort 8, Westmalle Dubbel and Koningshoeven (La Trappe) Dubbel.

    Cheers!

Allagash Dubbel is severely under rated.

Never had one, but I just received a SARA Quality of Life and I can't wait to crack it this weekend.

In my opinion, Grimbergen's Dubbel is in good company with the ones in @JimsArcade 's list (Disclaimer - I did not have the Westy). I remember it being somewhat richer in dark fruit and more wine-like compared to others.

If you liked it, I predict that you will enjoy any and all of the others.

I also second @Mike_Aguirre 's addition of Maredsous Brune, escpecially if you can get it on draft.

Great suggestions already. Beyond authentic Trappists and St. Bernardus Pater 6 and Prior 8, a few off-beat faves:

Goose Island Pere Jacques is my favorite American-brewed Dubbel. Very fruity, yet balanced. I lament its discontinuation.

Mother Earth Fig and Raisin is a calvados barrel-aged Dubbel that completely flew under the radar for most, but it was an excellent, if intense, beer.

Three Taverns Double Shot is a local favorite of mine, and it qualifies as one of the best coffee beers I've had.

I wasn't aware it got discontinued, and I'm sad for it. I may scoop up the ones still on the shelf at the nearest TW,

Rochefort 8 (not sure it counts as a dubbel but many people here count it)
    La Trappe dubbel

Westmalle. It's easy enough to get, but it's the best I've had and a personal favorite.

Just realized the only Dubbel I've logged on untappd is Maudite. I need to pick up a couple different styles this weekend I think.
