Picked up some Guinness extra stout and draught for this week. Ill admit I also grabbed the Guinness cold brew to try after the reviews on here were overwhelmingly favorable.

The one that I really miss is Old No. 38 from North Coast - haven't seen that one around here in years.

A perfectly poured Guinness in any hole in the wall bar in Ireland is really, really hard to beat.

Gots a bottle of Guinness Extra waiting for tomorrow's dinner.

Used to drink the Draught all the time back in the 90s, but with cutting down I went for a single, but bigger flavor.

I really can't stand anything on Nitro, and most craft examples around me want to just imitate Guinness Draught in that regard, so I typically avoid those. A local for me, Eureka Heights makes a good one called Tipsy Clover though, which I can find on good old CO2 taps, and even had on cask a few times. Which was excellent. I haven't had a regular Guinness Draught in years, but do really enjoy the Extra Stout which I have been drinking my fair share of over the last few weeks.

Guinness Foreign Extra Stout. It's deep. I prefer it over any other style Guinness has. Otherwise Murphy's Stout from down in Cork is very good and has virtually no carbonation. Cheers!

Extra Stout is legit great. A yearly buy for me and my favorite if we're strictly limiting to Irish Dry and not those labeled export.

I've always preferred Murphy's, and then Beamish after that, as opposed to Guinness. In Ireland, however, I'll take whatever they're pouring. I haven't been there in many years, but with the exception of Cork, Murphy's was almost impossible to find. Pretty much the same for Beamish. I did find them both but Guinness has really got the market tied up. Or at least they did.

Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, if we're including the Foreign/Export style.

O'Hara's Irish Stout if we're only talking about Irish Dry.

Murphy's or Beamish pints would be gorgeous then! I've heard good things about a brewery in Kinsale as well. Betcha they make a good dry stout. I will research that.

From Ireland: O'Hara's/O'Shea's, Murphy's, Guinness (both Draught and Extra), and Beamish (when it was available).

From the US: Most of the ones that I liked I can either no longer get or are retired. This includes Boulevard, Brooklyn, Northcoast Old No. 38, and Sprecher's Irish Stout.

For ones I can get now, I thought Breckenbridge's was decent enough.

    I’m a Murphy’s fan. I love Guinness but I like Murphy’s more.

Breckenridge has my highest score for their nitro dry Irish stout and of course I must mention Yards Love Stout. I haven’t had any of these in so long though I guess it is the time of year to go at it.

I've been on a Murphy's kick for the past few months. Not into the nitro so much, but I like the mouthfeel and taste just fine. I agree with what @zid (I believe) recently stated in the weekend thread on porters, that thinness is an under-appreciated characteristic of a good stout/porter.

I haven't had many Irish stouts, but as of today, Murphy's is my favorite.

I may or may not amend this answer as I try other examples of the style.

A local brewer has recently introduced a KILLER dry stout.

Inspired by The Emerald Isle, Thin Lizzy, and our favorite color here at Albright Grove, this Irish Dry Stout is the perfect companion to the colder winter months. Utilizing 100% Simpsons base and roasted malts and quintessential East Kent Golding hops, this stout boasts a pronounced malt character of roasted grains, dark chocolate, and coffee. The English yeast strain lends subtle fruit notes while the addition of nitrogen creates a creamy, smooth mouthfeel. Low ABV and surprisingly light body and dry finish make for the perfect winter session beer.

O’Haras is a very solid easily available option if you want to avoid the obvious ones in Ireland. They’ve released a nitro version of it now that’s very solid - for an easily attainable stout I’d go for O’Haras Leann Folláin though it’s technically an Export Stout.

If Mulligans is closed there won’t be many bars open!

I had the same result, probably at Kell's in Portland, where one could partake of more than one nitro draught simultaneously. The famous Guinness bite stands out clearly in a direct comparison.

When it came to the cans, and Beamish was still available, I had them:
    1 Beamish
    2 Guinness
    3 Murphy's

It's hard to find in the Bay Area (CA) these days as well. I can find it at BevMo but it's unrefrigerated and last time I checked it was not bottled dated. It is a very solid Irish Dry Stout and the beer that immediately came to mind.
