Fat Head's Sunshine Daydream is the only session IPA that I have really liked enough to purchase regularly and would drink all the time if locally available to me.

Spent this week with a case of it and agree 100%. Now lets put it in cans and drop the price $10 a case!

I tend to agree. It's simply a made-up term that they think is more marketable than pale ale. That being said All Day is an outstanding beer, whichever marketing angle they assign to it.

I'll nominate Firestone Walker's "Luponic Distortion" series. At less than 6 % ABV, it has way more flavor than many IPAs that market themselves as "sessionable" (there's that expression I hate again!) and yes, I'm looking at you All Day.

I'm never certain how many beers constitute a "session" but at 6.8%, I'd include Westbrook's IPA.

I liked Sierra Nevada's Nooner, but since it's retired I'd have to go with either Luponic Distortion or, at the outside, 60 Minute IPA. At 6% it might be right at the edge but I have a higher tolerance for alcohol and I don't drink too quickly.

Super Session #2 at 4.8% gets an honorable mention. Great beer but not easy to get your hands on..

Those are all fine quaffable beers and especially good in cans for your session!

Session refers to the beer not the drinker. Basically the sort of beer which can be drunk throughout a whole pub session. Before 1988 pubs had restricted open hours (believe it or not a WW1 measure ! ) , pubs had two sessions a day , lunchtime from say 10.30 till 2.30 and evening 5.30 till 10.30. Oh , those dreaded words "Time gentlemen please" when you had to drink up and leave.
As in industry standard it's only used to describe beers below 4% ABV for obvious reasons.
